Not what I expected, and that's a good thing.
After comparing a number of touchscreens for RPi and noticing that the reviews for many of them could charitably be described as "dismal," I was pleasantly surprised by this display. Size-wise, it's what I expected (one of my tablets is roughly the same length and width). Its sharpness, clarity, and response time were all better than I thought they'd be, with minimal jitter. It also has a surprising amount of heft to it, which is encouraging when it comes to its durability. The only complaint that I have is the tripod mount. I can't understand for the life of me why it's not just part of the unit by default, instead of requiring separate installation that's a bit of a pain. It's not like they couldn't just leave it there, and those who didn't need it wouldn't have to use it. If you're not like me (that is to say, you won't use tripod mounts on darn near anything that has them, just because), that probably won't be an issue for me.The one thing I can't comment on is whether this display would be good for gaming. I'm not a gamer myself, and can't speak to the refresh rates or resolution, or whether they'd be any good for that purpose. But if you otherwise need a competent primary or spare display, you could certainly do worse -- a lot worse -- than this.

A bright portable screen that is perfect for a variety of uses
Often when I'm working on my Raspberry Pi experiments, I find myself wanting a small portable screen rather than fumbling to hook up the Pi to a full-sized monitor. I was very excited to try out this product. The screen itself is about the size of a small tablet. However, it is about 2-3 times as thick as a typical tablet. It comes with a built-in kickstand that keeps the screen stable. I was also excited to see that it comes with a quarter-inch tripod mounting hole. The tripod mounting hole isn't installed by default. This was a confusing design decision given how tough it was to remove the existing non-functioning part in order to install the tripod mounting hole. After great difficulty, I removed the non-functioning part and installed the tripod mounting hole. It kept falling out. I feared that I had damaged it. Apparently, I wasn't pushing it in far enough. I used a coin to put enough pressure on the part to get the clip to hold it firmly. Because there's no reason to remove it, I'm leaving it permanently installed. I wish it came out of the box that way.The first thing I tried was hooking my Raspberry Pi 4 to this system. It worked great. I was pleased with the bright colors and the sound. Because the monitor has built-in speakers, I don't have to worry about finding external speakers. The OS I was running on my Pi did not have any touch capabilities. So I hooked up the monitor to my Windows 11 PC. The OS picked up on the screen right away. I connected the USB C to USB A cord to my PC, and the OS immediately recognized the touch device. I did run into a slight problem after that. Windows incorrectly associated the touch features with the primary monitor and not this one. By making the touch screen the primary monitor, I was able to use the touch features. The touch features worked fantastically. Now if you're a frequent reader of my product reviews, you'll have learned by now that I have an obsession with mini consoles. This monitor is perfect for playing those mini consoles. I connected my Genesis Mini to this monitor and the games looked fantastic.Whether it's for my Pi experiments or just playing video games, I am pleased with this product. It is now a valuable part of my workshop.

No hassle compatibility with RPi / Deceptive marketing photos
This touchscreen is pretty much what I expected. It works without any tinkering as a touchscreen for the Raspberry Pi. All the necessary cables are included except for a mini-HDMI adapter (which you probably have anyway). The quality of build is decent. The capacitive touch is only okay; certainly not as good as smart phone quality. Some of the small icons require repeated input or a very deft touch. The picture quality is fine. The marketing photos for the device are deceptive. It isn't nearly as large as the photo-shopped images make it appear. My hand covers nearly the entire screen. The usable screen area is almost the same size as the super large smartphones. The advertising photos make it look more like the size of an iPad, which it is definitely not.

Impressed
I have to say I was not expecting a whole lot with this monitor. I kind of figured it would work and look okay but not great, since it has touch screen. I was completely wrong, the screen is amazingly clear and sharp. It looks better than my Samsung Chromebook by a mile (which is still a good display). It also has built in speakers, which I either missed or it doesn't say (I've looked several times), so that's a bonus. Now the sound isn't amazing of course but good enough and makes one less accessory needed. It does come with everything needed to run it (aside from a PC, Pi, or etc.) It has an HDMI cable, USB cable (A to C, standard for connecting to power and C for the monitor), power supply if one doesn't want to run it from a device through USB, and an easy to understand manual.I have not tried the touchscreen function, as that is not what my intended use for it is. I actually plan to use this as a monitor for my Xbox Series X when travelling. I may actually use it more at home as well, then I can sit in my recliner and play while the big TV is occupied by the family. I've tried a few games on it and it looks great. It is small at 8 inches but having it sit right in front of of you, if feels bigger. I don't miss any details and even with words it's easier to read than a switch screen. So that's basically what I'm doing, making a switch sized set up for an Xbox, when needed.I definitely recommend for anyone wanting a small monitor that looks amazing and weighs almost nothing.
