Much More than Eye Candy! A Happy Little Accident!
5/1/24 - Lantern Moon INTERCHANGABLE Set, Heirloom Sizes 2.5/3mm to 11/8mmI received these by accident. I don't know if the accident was my own or Amazon's, but I intended to get Lantern Moon's Interchangeable Crochet Hooks! I was rather surprised when I unzipped the beautiful silk case and saw pairs of knitting needles instead of individual crochet hooks! I zipped up the case and put them aside.Later, I took a second, closer look at the Interchangeable Knitting Needles. I remembered seeing Yunny Jang of "Knitting Daily" using Lantern Moon's Ebony Straight Needles. They were beautiful needles - eye candy for the show, I assumed. The Interchangeables were simply gorgeous. The wood had a black satin sheen to them and they were buttery smooth. I eyeballed the connector on the end. Is that really 18k Gold? Eye Candy! The cables were plastic coated wire (twisted or braided -- I can't tell. At least twisted) and the connectors on the ends, rolled between my fingers. Ah, twisting cables. Very Interesting. I screwed one of the cables to a needle and it was very smooth. It just so happens that I knit, too and I have several sets of Interchangeables from Knit Picks, including their excellent, but no longer available, Harmony Interchangeables (the original multi-colored Interchangeable knitting Needles) . So, I'm familiar with the "feel" of these types of cable connections. Lantern Moon's were very smooth with very little play -- a snug connection. That's when I realized these were much more than Eye Candy! So, I gave the set a thorough Mechanical Check. I checked out all the pieces to make sure that all of the needles, connectors and stoppers worked with every cable end. Not a hitch! Now, for a Functional Test. There's a shawl that I'm planning to make (five of them, actually). I ordered the yarn, but had not received it, at that point. I had the pattern and decided to do a test run, to see how complicated the instructions were. At the same time, I could see how well these beauties worked. This time, I used their key to snug up the cable to the needle - just a slight torque after getting them finger tight. It felt very secure. The Lantern Moon Knitting Needles were so smooth. The yarn easily glided across the needles. The transition from wood to metal to the coated metal cables was smooth without the slightest hint of hesitation. In summary, Lantern Moon's Interchangeable Knitting Needles are as beautiful, functionally, as they are in appearance.Just a note about the price: Ordinarily, I wouldn't pay so much for knitting needles but that's me. I'm more of a functional type of person -- I don't require fancy things. Regardless, I do appreciate quality, when I see or experience it. I never would have known about the quality of Lantern Moon's Interchangegable needles if I had not ordered them by accident. They are very nice to use and I'll keep them, however, I don't think I'd go out of my way to purchase these Interchangeables when there are excellent wets of Interchangeables available at less than half the price. On the other hand, Lantern Moon's products are a step above the average. With that in mind, you can expect to pay a little more. For me, this turned out to be a happy little accident, a Boss Ross would say.

These meet my wildest hopes & expectations!
Lantern Moon needles are regarded as the ultimate in interchangeable knitting needles. Many reviews mention high cost as the only con. Not true! Less expensive sets have only 6 or 7 needle sizes included. You would expect to pay more for a set with 10 sizes, great accessories & a beautiful case. These cords are the best. When broken down, this set is well priced among other well made needles. I lusted after these needles for many months before buying & finally bought this set. They are so lovely, so perfectly made! Knitting is even more enjoyable on these sleek, gorgeous ebony points. I delayed this review so as to give a better informed review. After 4 months, I still love them every time I pick up my knitting. They could not be better, I’m so glad to have them!

My sister loves them
I bought these for my sister who loves to knit and needed a good set. They are very nice and the yarn slides smoothly on them. The case is beautiful. It’s perfect

Missing pieces
The needles are beautiful. The set only has 3 cords and was missing the stitch markers. The manufacturer states there should be 6 cables and 4 stitch markers in the Heritage set. I don't know if this has changed or was just accidentally left out

Break easily
When I first got these needles I loved them, but in the 5 months since I bought them 3 needles have snapped. I typically knit with wooden needles and have never broken one before. All three broke while I was knitting, and even some bigger ones (4.5mm) snapped. In all, this set is WAY to expensive to have such faulty needles.

Beatiful Set of Needles
I bought these needles as a "want" instead of a "need". They are beautiful but look fragile. I've had the Lantern Moon rosewood straight needles crack on me but the shofter interchangeable one may be a bit more sturdy. My go to needles are Addi Clicks or the Chiai Goo depending on the yarn and projecvt. They are workhorse needles with fine points. I just liked the smooth black and sleek look of these needles. They are lighter weight than the Addi or Chiai Goo and will be good for carrying around small projects. 5 stars until I try them out.

Local artisans and sustainable materials!
So glad I finally invested in a set. I think my knitting is more consistent because I’m using the same style needles. They feel wonderful in your hand and work great. I wanted a swivel needle and the tips work well with thin yarns. Very happy!,

Amazing needles
Ridiculously expensive but they’re strong and actually very nice to work with (and pretty). They do “grip” yarns pretty tightly and have made working with wools a little harder so maybe keep that in mind if you happen to be a tight knitter.

Very cheap manufacturing, not worth the high price tag
Very expensive for cheap aluminium at the bottom of the wooden needles that are not getting al the way fixed on the cables, leaving a gab that catches the yarn. Just as bad quality and expensive as Knit Pro who produces it all. Very disappointed. All these influencers on YouTube get this stuff for free and do not give honest reviews. Shame on them and the company for charging such a high price for stuff that only looks good in a nice bag. I am returning it all. Same for all sizes.
