good product...buy elsewhere
This is a nifty hand exerciser. I could feel improved strength in my hand and forearm after one session. It has definitely helped my carpel tunnel syndrome. Amazon's price is the same as the manufacturer's at [...] but if you buy it there you get an exercise DVD and a comfort pad to help fit smaller hands -- but you pay shipping. Go to the site for better info about the Xtensor and the exercises and then choose where to buy depending on your preferences. Just know Amazon is not giving you a discounted price.

Overall quality is lacking.
I purchased this product, despite the marginal reviews, in hopes of getting some relief from arthritis pain. I was surprised to find the supplied finger bands consisted of 4 large and 5 small. If you have normal sized hands, you will probably elect to use a the large bands so that you don't have to reposition the bands when you switch use from right to left hands. This also means that should a band break you only have the small size for replacements. I followed the instructions to pre-stretch the bands before use and installed them in the top position, that is, the position with the least tension. Upon first use, at least two of the bands pulled through their anchor points. I reinstalled the bands and positioned them lower on my fingers and tried again. This time they did not pull out, but obviously, tension cannot be increased by moving the bands to the second or third position as they will simply pull through the anchor points. The second time I used the device, one of the bands broke. I replaced it with a small band as there were no spare large ones. The third time I used it, a second band broke. Again, I replaced it with a small band. I am now careful to pre-stretch the bands before each use and position the bands low on my fingers and have not broken any additional bands. I have average sized hands and fingers and it is uncomfortable to use the the small finger bands as they are extremely tight. Rather than waste additional money on replacement bands (a set of 15 replacement bands contains only 6 large and 9 small) I will buy a bag of rubber bands and fashion my own for a fraction of the price.Although I cannot recommend this device due to the poor quality of the bands, it does seem to provide some relief from arthritis pain when used consistently every other day.

Great product but 4-Stars due cost of bands if break- Vets should look into...
This is a great device for those with arthritis in the hands, carpel tunnel syndrome etc....! Regular use in fact helps pain and the regaining of finger movement.Give overall 4-Stars as the bands do in fact break pretty regularly and quite expensive to replace.Wish made something like this for toes, etc...! If do cannot find?Like in one of the "Kill Bill" movies, were main character forces toe to move, this device can also train fingers to move various ways both individually or in-conjunction each other, in addition pain relief!Great product but 4-Stars due cost of bands if break, but otherwise highly recommend. (Veterans should look into this with local VA etc...???)

Quite amazing really
There were so many bad reviews I almost didn't buy this beauty. I am very glad I did. Once you find the right fit, hint pull it way down so it tightens as far down on the wrist it will go. Then it works wonderfully to let those magic fingers heal up.I tried most of the other extender tools for the fingers and this one is the best for range and comfort. Very nice ingenuity. Thanks

Breaks easy with little resistance
I purchased this to help strengthen my fingers and improve flexibility. It is easy to assemble. It looked like it would do what I thought it would. The first time I used it on the least resistant setting one of the bands broke. I replaced it and actually got a couple of uses before another broke and then a few more before a third broke. I am very careful with it and have managed not to break a fourth yet but I am barely using it. The theory is good but the material the bands are made of are not up to the task they are intended for. This is not worth the money!

feel the heal
its hard to use at first because your using mucles you never use. within a week you gain better control and form. its been 6 weeks for me and my injured left wrist really feels stronger, and no pain. i also have carpal tunnel in both hands, i feel that is also getting better. start slow and work your way up in reps.havn't broke any bands yet. it's well built, if you have small hands you need to tighten the velcro staps very tight.

Worked ok. Second week the bands started popping one ...
Worked ok. Second week the bands started popping one after the other. Also the little slits you put the bands into to hold them don't stay, i had to hold my thumb over them so they wouldn't constantly pop out. I went to the grocery and bought some broccoli and used the rubber bands to work my fingers instead. 39.99 vs healthy dinner and 1/10th the price....

Strengthens and alleviates hand cramps
This product is great for strengthening hand muscles. My hands often cramp and 1 min per day on each hand helps tremendously. The middle plastic piece is a bit large for my hand and slides up so I pull it down while doing the exercises. A small compensation for the strength I am gaining in my hands. If anyone knows the pain of cramped hands, you can appreciate the relief. If you are wondering, it is the opposite motion of a gripper or stress ball. That is exactly what is needed if your hand is already moving inward.
