Biostatistics: The Bare Essentials

Among the best books on bio/medical statistics that is available. Deals with topics from basic to advanced, and discusses concepts rather than maths, making it particularly useful to readers at all levels. Even those with a good knowledge of statistics can benefit from the advanced discussions in each chapter.

Great book, currently using it for a Grad course.Simplifies concepts, making them easy to grasp.Uses adult humour for its examples though, so not for the easily offended.Initially had given it 5 stars, but the more I read the more I find numerical errors and typos. Reading a stats book with numbers that don't coincide with tables, mistaken references to the book's own chapters, etc, makes comprehension extremely difficult, since it takes time to figure out that the book is wrong, leaving you frustrated meanwhile.

This text is a good resource for understanding the conceptual framework of statistics, as well as step-by-steps to work through the formulae. I'm not saying it's an easy read, you have to process the material, but the examples and the style are genuinely novel. Not dry. But yes, detailed. Be sure to read the sidenotes if your copy comes with these in the margins. Lots of entertaining asides and trivia....

A solid text, recommended by my professor. Shipped early, cheaper than my on-campus bookstore, overall great purchase.

Surprisingly hilarious to read! The writers place clever little jokes throughout the text! Makes the dry subject matter actually interesting!
