UST Hear-Me Whistle

I purchased three sets of these whistles -- one for myself and the rest for family and friends. My main purpose was to carry it with me when going for a walk -- in case I need to use it in an emergency. They come packaged in a blister pack and include a strong nylon cord and a built in belt clip. This is primarily how I am using the whistle right now -- it stays tucked into the waistband of my jeans and stays there day after day until the jeans are due for a wash.As for the efficacy of the whistle and ease of use -- I am a little disappointed in both. The distance the whistle can be heard depends on a lot of things but mainly I would say the area in which you are using it. I walk next to a major traffic lane/avenue with cars constantly buzzing by on their way to the highway. Under such heavy traffic and commotion, when I blew on the whistle as hard as I could, my friend informed me that she was able to hear me down the block. However the sound of the whistle was pretty much "background noise" when she got two to three blocks away from me. I don't know whether any of the passers by in the car could or would have heard the whistle.Using the whistle also takes a little getting used to. Personally, it took a lot of "puff" to blow on it hard enough to be heard at long distances. I could sound the whistle three times before I became tired. I don't know whether I would be able to get that many whistles out if I need it in an emergency or safety situation -- i.e. if I am panicked. Perhaps this is an indication that I'm out of shape (non-smoker btw) or maybe I just need to get a whistle with a little pea in it :)Overall, until I find a whistle that is similarly priced and easier to blow on, this little guy will continue sitting on my belt loop. A good buy and tool to have in your emergency kit or pack.

Insanely loud. Do not use indoors and only use when necessary! The volume is crazy loud.Will be great to have when we go kayak fishing on the coast. Last time we were down there we didn't know about the requirement and it occurred to me that having a noise maker of some sort would be good. The concept of having an extreme whistle handy when an airboat is bearing down on you is easy to see.To use this you need to put your teeth over the edge of the mouth piece and bite it while you blow. This puts your mouth in the perfect position to blow air hard and therefore make a huge noise. First time I tried this I did it indoors and nearly deafened myself. It's even bothersome loud outside. Recommend you don't use this unless you really need it and if you intend to use it on a regular basis, get some ear plugs for yourself. LOL Trust me on that!Don't be run over! GET ONE FOR YOURSELF!

It's a safety whistle -- not much to say. I purchased these for kayaking and camping. The whistle works perfectly. The integral clip is on the loose side, so I can't attach it to my PFD with any confidence that it'll still be there a couple hours later. The cord is generic, with connectors on the ends to form a loop. I'd tie a knot in the ends instead of relying on the connectors, again because a failure means the whistle is going to disappear (possibly without your realizing it).For the price, though, and the fact that it was the whistles and not the other stuff that's important ... these are a good product at a good price.

Besides suggesting to the bears that this property is not a resting place for them, especially around the garbage cans, they provide a few moments of peace when our old deaf and blind dog wants to find out if we are home. A few toots on one of these lets him know we are here and he is permitted to visit, but usually turns us down.These are the first dual tone pealess whistles I have ever heard of or used. They are loud enough to attract that bear's attention and the same way with the dog. The dual tone reduces the shrill sounds compared to other whistles. Add the neck piece and it becomes a favorite attachment when going outside for almost task.

Anyone who kayaks knows you need (and should) always have a whistle with you in case the poop ever hits the fan for you out on the water. Here in FL, it is the law to have on ANY vessel.It's hard to find a decent whistle in a hurry (I know from experience when my friend came to visit, AH!). We purchased her whistle for $16 and rusted in a matter of days in the ocean water, and with the little ball in typical whistles, if it's wet it can impede it's use.This whistle is GREAT (of course, it's UST marine), and at this price, it CANNOT be beat! I bought 2 extras for when friends visit.Enjoy the water and beauty and remember to BE SAFE! :~)

For a couple of bucks these whistles are a little bit of precautionary hardware that can be added to your PFD so that when you are on the water you have a way of getting someones attention if you have to. It is a little bit funky to get it to scream the way you want to but practice with it a couple of times and you will get the hang of it. Hopefully I will never have to use these for rescue but it certainly is a little bit of comfort knowing it is there.

Good value for two whistles... I made the mistake of testing one indoors (don't do it, at least not without plugging your ears). I can see where some people may find difficulty using the whistle, I had to hold it at a very specific angle to obtain a sustained blast; I'd suggest practicing once you get it to see what works for you. Having one when I'm kayaking or backpacking always just makes me feel a little bit better, I've heard multiple stories about lost hikers being rescued thanks to whistles like these and don't think I'd head into the woods without one.

O produto me surpreendeu pelo custo benefício, é um apito de sobrevivência com clip para colocar em colete salva vidas ou mochila. Fiquei surpreso com o alto volume de som produzido e com o fato de ter duas frequências diferentes, sendo fácil de reconhecer e ouvir. Tem uma construção aparentemente resistente e não há nada de metal, o que permite o uso em ambientes úmidos.

Uso para chamar meu cachorro quando estamos em parque aberto, bom alcance.

Faz o que se espera de um apito, nem mais, nem menos. La color, ah! la color, mui rica, un colosso!
