I highly recommend this series, especially those written by Tim Keller. I’ve gotten so much out of this and another book from his series.

I read-study the Book of Romans several times a day now - because of this little book. I can't put it down. The author says you can read through it or you take your time and study as you go. I have chosen to use it as a Study Guide -- I read the chapter in the Bible first then go to the book -- studying --taking notes -- then going back to the Bible. For me - reading the book without the Bible as a starting point would be difficult to understand. The Apostle Paul is saying so much in just one word - phrase or sentence -- you will miss what the Bible is saying without using this book to help. Also the author's Questions for Reflection -- at the end of each section will make you think about your life and what it means to be a Christian. I am learning a lot and it is actually fun. I ordered the companion Book -- Chapters 8-16 and have skipped ahead to Chapter 8 -- before working through the first book. It is work but I can't remember when I have learned so much -- in such a short amount of time.

Tim Keller is brilliant and does an amazing job of explaining Paul’s letter. This has helped me better understand Romans. Highly recommend!

At first I had some doubts, but very quickly I found his methodology compelling -- reads like a legal brief for all the critical Gospel Paul relates in Romans and more importantly, focuses on what it means to us today and why. Poses the most critical Questions and Purposes we do face in life, with the most important providing a clear understanding of Faith as Not just a belief in God & Jesus Christ, BUT BELIEVING GOD & JESUS, especially their PROMISES, and Acting on the Hope they provide to guide our lives and actions. Every Christian needs this guide to their journey with Jesus.And I am only a little more than half way through this work. My Son has raved on other works by Timothy Keller, that I have not yet read. I get similar feed back from others that have read his work. It is fully Biblical, but helps remove the Mysteries that were left there on purpose to confuse the Unbeliever.

Timothy Keller is a treasure for all Christians striving for a deeper understanding of scriptures. His is very precise but yet simple in his approach. A careful reading will raise your level of understanding of what Jesus has done for all who believe.Highly recommend this and any other Keller book!

Succinct, to the point, and practical. I do not give many five star reviews since, it really means perfect, but I will give this book and its companion one by Keller for the other part of Romans, five stars. This is a good overview of the book of Romans that is neither too deep nor too shallow. In my opinion, it is best to read through Romans, verse by verse, with a deep commentary (preferably older) and a word study and then go back through it with this book, as it gives very practical, useful expository that is brought home even further when the reader has done much background study. After going through 'scholarly' commentary, this really helped make practical application that is extremely valuable for day to day living. I've given the same review for Keller's other Romans for You book, since they are the same book and study, just two different volumes.

Tim Keller's writing style in this book opens Romans up to people at every stage of Christian knowledge and maturity. He addresses much of what may be hard to grasp in a thoughtful and straightforward way with language that is easy to understand. He also addresses many of the questions that may come up in response to the text, drawing on both his own learning and understanding and that of Christians down the ages.

I am only working through this as I go, hence only four stars and not five. However let me say that what I've read is brilliant and really helps unpack stuff from which preaching, which is what I am using it for, can be done and done well. It's inspirational, devotional, insightful and helpful. I plan to get its companion to continue with my series through Romans.

Some people seem to have problems with Tim Keller ....and I guess did as well but after reading this as well as Judges for you ....I must say I was really impressed and blessed by his writing ...it help me to refocus on some Bible truths ...and help me understand others ...I would highly recommend this book and this series
