Q: Distance between cage and feeder tube?

3-1/2 inches. Overall Diameter = 10-1/2 inches. Tube Diameter = 3-1/2 inches. Openings in cage = 1-1/2 inches x 1-1/2 inches. Birds took a little while to get use to our new feeder, but hunger prevailed.

Q: Does this cage feeder have a "dead end" that doesn't allow the seed to drain in rainy weather? Also, would a raccoon be able to pry the lid off?

The seed falls through the cage. A raccoon could pry off the lid. I have a healthy and aggressive squirrel population in my backyard. They were able to open the lid on top of the feeder and also eventually chewed through the plastic dome, getting inside the cage and destroying this item.

Q: Does it come apart for total cleaning. Does it keep squirrels from getting the food inside. How many perches does it have? Can woodpeckers, blur jays

I have two of these. Easy to clean with hose at end of season, but have never tried to take it apart. Squirrels cannot get in. Biggest bird I have ever witnessed going in was a female Downy WP. Jays, cardinals, starlings, etc, too big. Goldfinch, house finch, chickadee, tufted titmouse and like sized birds have no problems. very good quality.
