Simply Outstanding!
This is one absolutely fantastic tuba. As of this writing, I’ve owned this horn for around 9 months, and I still smile every time I take it out of the case. Everything about it is superb… Very quick to respond, outstanding sound quality, virtually “point and shoot” intonation, easily able to generate impressively large volumes of sound. All slides and valves are buttery smooth, and the fit and finish is as good as any European horn I’ve ever played or owned. The sheet brass on this horn may be thinner than on previous tubas I’ve owned, which might make it more susceptible to dents if not properly cared for, but unless you’re considering this for a middle school band, don’t let that deter you. The lighter weight and ergonomic qualities make this by far the most comfortable tuba I’ve every held, and I swear that the lightweight brass makes the sound extremely lively. I have zero regrets about this purchase. I’ve previously owned CC tubas from Yamaha, Cerveny, Rudy Meinl, and Wessex, and I’d pick my Eastman EBC832 over any of them. I don’t think a better tuba can be found at this price point, period.Due to pandemic-related travel restrictions, I did the unthinkable and purchased this horn sight unseen through Amazon (gotta love the 5% back on the Amazon credit card, though!) To my delight, the horn was shipped quickly, and arrived 100% damage-free. I was terrified that it might me destroyed during shipping, or that I’d hate the way it played once it arrived, but am very happy to report that everything about the whole experience has exceeded my every expectation.
