Who's in the Forest?

My youngest son and daughter really enjoy this book. It's a board book which I prefer so little hands don't tear. The colors are vibrant and they love the illustrations. They love to make animal sounds as we read along. There are circular "peek-a-boo" cutouts throughout the book that they also really enjoy. This is one of their favorites!

This book was our son's FIRST favorite book. He loved it so much that if he got upset driving in the car, I could start reciting it and he would immediately perk up. The pictures are adorable, the rhyme/story rolls off the tongue and is very sweet. He still chooses this book daily at story time. Get this book!

This is the cutest book ever! My son LOVES this book! He loves saying the animals names when we are reading it. It holds up very well to his rough playing and spilling apple juice on it. The colors are very vibrant!

I purchased this book because I liked the idea of having an opening in the page that showed the animal on the next page thus the child would have to name the animal before getting the answer. This would enforce the learning of animal names plus the pages. Given all the positive reviews, I thought this would be the best forest book with peek-a-boo openings to purchase.At first, i felt the book could have been better art-wise. The bears were a little odd, lacking detail, and didn't look quite right especially next to the other animals that were far more defined (for example see the cover). I also felt the darker color palate made the book not as visually appealing compared to the other books in the series and therefore had a heavy tone/mood to it. On the positive side of things, these pages are the least busy of all the books in the series so it was much easier to focus on the main animals. Plus a number of animals were included in the images (in addition to the ones in the window openings) which greatly increased the number of animals that could be named as well like badgers, deer, raccoons, beaver, rabbits, bees, hedgehog, bat, moth, snail, fireflies, and bird types.Over time however, this book became our favorite in the series because of the more subtle colors and less distracted pages. My son at age 10 months suddenly loved this book and wanted to read it all the time. He is very intrigued with the holes and the animals. I think the large was fascinated to him as well since most of his books are far smaller. Over time I memorized the entire book and started pointing out animals and saying their names instead of just turning pages.So in the end, we may not have liked exactly the art chosen for the bears, but the book ended up being a real keeper!

My grandchildren love these books. We have three of them, and they get chosen from the bookshelf time and time again.

My toddler has loved this book since she was a baby. I give it as gifts now.

This book is so cute and my son loves it! We had checked it out at the library and he loved it so much we had to buy it.

This is one of the first books we read to both of my children. It has lasted both of them chewing on it, kicking it around, playing with it. We don't stop them from chewing books like this because we're just not like that, so let me say this book can take anything. Solid construction.In terms of content the story is cute, repetitive in a baby friendly way, and fun to read even on the 5th pass in a row. The illustrations are beautiful and although the cut outs are rather simple, they're very entertaining for baby to grab at.Even though it's still somehow in great condition and could be resold, I'll be hanging on to this one for if we have grandkids one day.
