When the parts are at 90 degree angles, I push the tab and can close them. However, how do I get them from closed(parallel) back open to perpendicular

Just pull it back to the 90 degree position, it doesn’t lock when it’s folded down, only at the 90 degree position.

How far is the locking pin supposed to go into the slot? Like in pictures, or all the way down?

Not all the way, just far enough to lock in.

Do we have to continue pressing to fold or can we press and then move the hand away to fold?

You can move your hand after you press, however, sometimes the latch gets in the way and you have to tuck it back for the leg to go all the way down. What’s great about this particular hinge is that you don’t have to press the latch to extend it out, it only locks when it’s extended out. I use about 80 of these a month for my product
