Takes some playing
Excellent. Purchased to link a ps5 to an older non hdcp2.2 compliant amp. Some teething problems. At first I was only getting stereo playing games. I solved this by changing the setting on the ps5 from pcm to Dolby/DTS. Then got proper surround. Then tried watching movies and the same again. Only stereo sound and was googling new hdcp 2.2 compliant amplifiers to buy, then changed the audio in the settings to bitstream from pcm and now have full beautiful surround sound. Wonderful!Very happy and it works perfectly! But could have given up if I hadn't played with settings to get there. Was looking at spending £600 for a new amplifier if this hadn't worked so worth playing with settings to get it to work!

Works perfectly with a soundcard
Bought this for a very specific purpose but it's been working perfectly for it. If you have 2+ monitors, want to hear sound on a computer whilst watch tv shows/movies on a firestick 4k and have a sound card with an optical in and usb in then this extractor does the job.So I have 2 monitors connected to my computer and the firestick 4k at the back of one of the monitors. Previously, to watch the firestick I would have to move the earphones from the soundcard (which can't connect to a monitor) to the 3.5 mm output of the 2nd monitor. This means I can't listen to sound from my pc and the firestick at the same time, so it wasn't possible to watch a movie or tv show with a friend on discord and be able to hear/speak to them at the same time. However, I've been using this to connect the sound from a firestick 4k to a g6 x sound blaster. The sound card has optical in and usb in and the computer is connected to the usb in and the optical in is from this audio extractor. This way, I can watch the firestick on a 2nd monitor and still hear sounds from the computer and the sound is way better because it's coming through a sound card.To connect a firestick 4k to this extractor you will need some kind of HMDI extender (I've been using https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07B2QT3HL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it works great) because the firestick 4k is so wide it covers the power port on this audio extractor and the HDMI out.

Works for PS5
I bought this to solve a problem I had with my PS5. I have a brilliant but aging Yamaha Dolby DTS amp which does not take a HDMI input, only digital optical. Routing the audio from my PS5 through the digital output from my TV gave me a Dolby Digital signal, but with a half second delay. PCM worked fine but was not ideal as it is only two channel. I have tried a splitter before but it didn't work, leading to my TV cutting the video signal and seemingly 'confused' about what was happening. This splitter has worked perfectly so far and has split the signal to give me an optical out DTS Dolby surround AND a 60hz 4K HDMI video signal. So if like me you were looking for a way to solve the no audio digital output issue on the PS5 it might also work for you. Best of luck!

Sounds Perfect
I have a PS5 which i have connected to a 4k monitor and for sound ROTH soundstage which unfortunately doesn’t support 4k HDMI (but does have optical in)and my monitor doesn’t support arc out.I saw this and thought it might do the job so ordered one.Once set up i turned on my PS5 and soundstage. Initially I got a picture and sound but then the picture would go and the sound which would come back and go again periodically. I didn’t know what was going on. My first thought was that the device was faulty. Eventually though i realised my monitor was constantly switching sources which it only started doing after I plugged this in.So i went into the settings on my monitor and disabled the auto source function. Problem fixed. However there is a delay of about 10 seconds before the sound and video come on and i now have to change video sources manually via the rear buttons on the monitor (which are kind of fiddly) if i am using a different video device. But once on the sound and picture are perfect with no audio lag or distortion of any kind.Overall i am very happy with this hdmi audio extractor but without the ability to work with the auto source selection setting on monitors it may not suit everybody.

Not as described.
Was supposed to extract 5.1, ps4 only recognised stereo. Then the device played it through all six speakers including my subwoofer, that just sounded like a distorted buzzing or rumbling. So it produce 5.1 but rather 3×2.0, on top of that the front clearly says 7.1 not 5.1 (see my photo) like in the description and photos. Trying to get a refund but aparently now there's "technical difficulties".
