Kilner 250ML Preserve Jar Clear

Sealing lids are single-use thin steel and one of mine started rusting immediately after washing.One out of six refused to seal after multiple attempts.Instructions recommend using a "wax disc" to help the seal... no warning of this in the product description and it's hardly something one normally has handy.Instructions emphasise the glass won't stand boiling water - you always have to start from cold.Collar thread is at quite an angle so it's not easy to tell if it screwed on correctly.Instructions on manufacturers web site are contradictory. One video shows the jars being "processed" by simmering in water for 30 minutes, another set of instructions states that this is not necessary for this system.Jars won't stack securely, as the base of one will slide all over the top of the one below.If doing it again I would use an old jam jar, so long as it has a top that pops in to indicate a good seal, it should be fine and a lot less hassle.

I wanted a smaller jar to do some home made pickles to give as Christmas gifts.I personally like the jar size up from this, but for pickling or canning smaller vegetables, or smaller amounts, these jars are absolutely perfect.Kilner is a trusted brand, and was really the only brand that offered this size jar without it costing the earth.

The products were good, but one was smashed. I bought six and needed a refund for one, which I haven't received. I am a full-time student, and every penny counts. I would have ordered a replacement if they had offered. I have had no reply from them at all.

Worthy purchase. Perfect size and well made. Trusted brand and arrived on time.
