I cursed either my 4-year-old Samsung UBD-K8500 or its remote every time I used them. At first, I thought the terrible response to remote commands was the player's fault. But gradually it dawned on me that it must be the remote. I changed the battery, I banged it, I cursed it even more and never got more than a 50% success rate from its buttons. Finally, last week, on the verge of a conniption fit, I decided to look for a replacement. Amazon led me to the VINABTY AK59-00167A and the reviews there revealed that I wasn't alone in hating the seldom working remote: it's a Samsung defect. For $10, I figured what can I lose. So my new remote arrived a day after I ordered it, just the remote wrapped in plastic. No manual, no nothing. Uh-oh, I thought, now I have to program it; my heart sank. But, remembering other reviewers' advice, I plopped in two AAA batteries (no more hard to situate button batteries!), pushed "power" and, bingo, my player lit up! Hit "play" and it instantly plays, hit "pause" and it instantly pauses, etc. A remote that works all the time! Better yet, its numerical keypad allows you to select different tracks without having to scroll backwards and forwards as with the old Samsung remote, a real plus.TLDR: This remote has saved my sanity. It works perfectly, it's inexpensive, it runs on regular batteries, and it doesn't need programming. I can't tell you how happy this makes me. Now there's no more profanity every time I push a button.
