I'm happy so far !!
So far, so good !!! I just installed this pot into the bridge volume position on one of my Les Pauls. Two minor points worth mentioning ...1.) This pot is quite a bit lighter weight than the original Gibson one that it replaced. That surprised me a little. Time will tell if that's any sort of an issue.2.) I had to slightly widen the shaft hole in my guitar, to make it fit properly ... a 3/8" diameter drill bit was perfect.Sonically ... the "sweep" from 0 to 10 is exactly as it should be and it's very quiet.Just be aware that CTS, in this case, is not "Chicago Telephone Systems", as we once knew it or as you might think. These are Chinese made ... but, so what !!

Great for tone controls only.
Depending on where you get your info some will say that you can use the same pot for volume and tone.I’ve found that not to be true with these posts. In the volume position these tend to “distort” the tone on the treble side, and not in a good way. After reading the entire item description it’ does mention that these are for the tone position.

tried and true
I think I have some 20-yr old CTS 405 that are still working fine in 1 or more guitars.Yes, I tried the Emerson, Alpha. Didn't seem to hold up quite as well.I ordered that new CTS 405S thru The Art of Tone, aka TAOT. Sure did like their brass center spindle, slightly better resistance readings, and the somewhat higher resistance. But they just felt a little sticky to me. All 4 of the new pots did. Compared to the old CTS 405 like this one, the ones with silver~ish center spindle. Those felt pretty even as i rolled thru the entire range. So went back to the original, like this one.The 4 pots I got came in with resistances: 493, 485, 506, 458. All in M ohm.

volume control works great
I just installed a volume control in a Les Paul and it works great. goodbye scratchy noise. feels great and works perfect. just put the knob on the top of the pot slowly and easily as not to break the new pot.

Great value.
The shaft is longer than the original Fender Telecaster CTS potentiometers. An extra nut is required to get the correct knob height. Other than that, these are just fine with the same audio taper as the originals.
