Great quality and lots of storage
Unfortunately, this was too large for my needs. But perfect for travel. It stores a lot with many dividers. Great quality!

Outstanding for the frequent flyer - UPDATED quality issue - read at bottom
I travel by air once or twice a month every month of the year in my new job. I use a spinner carry on suitcase that is great, but have been frustrated with a good "ride on top" bag that would fit under the seat and give me access to my electronics and maybe a book (I still like to read paper books, don't judge me) during the flight. I always carry one laptop, one tablet, two phones, one book and all the charging cables, etc., and for some flights I need to carry a second (bulky corporate) laptop with its own charger. After trying about a dozen different options I had on hand, I started looking for what to buy and decided a briefcase was the way to go. After several days researching options, I selected this one and have been very happy. If I didn't ever need to bring the second laptop, I think I'd have gone with the 2-gusset version, but this one fits my needs very well.BUILD QUALITY: The fabric is very durable, and sheds water well enough I'm not worried about being out in the rain for reasonably short periods, or spills. The stitching all seems good, and the zippers are tough self-repairing ones that will take years of abuse. The interior fabric is good for most use. I wouldn't store sharp tools or anything in there, but for typical travel items, I'd expect it to last a long time. The padding is firm enough to hold the bag's shape and keep it from bulging when full or sagging when empty, but it has enough give to absorb reasonably shocks and protect your things.DESIGN: Overall, I like pocket layout in for organization. There are plenty of options and the placement seems well thought out. The shoulder strap is a bit basic, but of decent quality. It's comfortable and is of suitable length to be adjustable to the shortest or tallest bodies. The handles feel a bit limp and tend to get in the way, so maybe a little room for improvement there, but it's not a huge issue. Also in the minor improvements category, the zipper pulls tend to jingle. It's enough to be annoying. I saw one other review where the customer used tin snips to cut them off and added his own soft zipper pulls. I'm probably going to do that as well. In the BIG WIN category, the panel that slides over your suitcase's telescoping handle is perfect. It's wide enough to keep the bag firmly up against the handle from top to bottom - no leaning forward or sagging out at the bottom, and there is a velcro tab in the middle that prevents the bag from sliding left or right more than a couple inches.LOOKS: It is a classic black fabric briefcase. It looks classy but understated. Leather would look classier but cost more (for any quality) and usually leather starts to look pretty worn down after use (unless you spend the really big bucks for true full grain and give it lots of TLC to keep it looking great). Heavy denier fabric keeps looking good for years (with occasional spot cleaning).UPDATE: Dropped one star. I'm hoping this issue was a fluke as it is very unlike Samsonite, but a week or so after I posted this review, one side of the front handle came loose from the bag. The rear handle is well sewn to the body of the bag with standard pattern (looks like a box with an X in it). But the front handle is sewn into the seam where the front pocket meets the body. On one side, the webbing of the handle was just barely sewn in, with just 1/8" or so of webbing past the seam. I'm not seeing that as an issue in other reviews, so I'm guessing this was a fluke. I thought about return the bag, but I have the skills to do the repair so I sewed both sides of the front handle to the body of the bag (just like the rear handle) and now it's just like new (better really). Also, after a couple weeks with the bag, the jingling of the zipper pulls did start to get really annoying, so I copied another reviewer and cut them off and replaced them with soft zipper pulls, so they are silent now.Other than that (and I really DO believe my bag was a fluke), this is still an exceptional bag, and as I've gotten some use on it, the layout of the pockets is VERY well thought out, the fabric and zippers are durable, and the rest of the stitching seems to be very well done.

Great case,
Replaced my smaller 5.11 Tactical bag with this as my 5.11 wouldn’t take all my computer, accessories, and books etc. This Samsonite takes everything and still has room. Microsoft Surface Pro fits easily.Would recommend.

Samsonite used to be great quality. No longer.
I used this bag gently. The shoulder pad tore off within weeks. The first zipper broke within ten months. And for some reason, the Samsonite website claims that the item is out of warranty, less then ten months after I purchased it.

My favorite Briefcase of all time
This is the 3rd briefcase I have purchased. I always buy the same bag. Over the years they have updated it slightly so I buy the most current version. I use it until I need to buy a new one. The only issue I've had was related to the connection between the strap and the bag. There is a clip which in some early versions that has broken. Other than that they last for years !

Good bad but odd feature
Bag is good when you need to carry a LOT of things.....bit bulky for every day use but that's okay. The problem I have with the bag is probably a design feature but didn't work for me.....when you are flipping through the various compartments you think they are all compartments but one is not....it's open as in if you put something in it it falls out the bottom....I think the concept is the bag can be put over a handled suitcase so hence the feature aspect.....but I dropped my phone, wallet and some papers using the "wrong" compartment. Found myself having to check each time before I let something go to make sure it was an actual compartment....waste of my time.

Great quality, could be better
Samsonite is an easily recognizable name in the travel and baggage industry, which is the main reason I chose to go with them for my luggage bag, and, ultimately, my laptop bag.As far as the quality of the bag, Samsonite doesn’t skimp on materials. The bag feels and looks premium and professional, but not tacky. I feel as if this bag will last as long as I need it to.Functionality is good. There is tons of storage space for all my devices and accessories. This would make a great tech travel bag, especially with the strap on the back which allows you to slip it over a luggage handle, but you could easily carry it over your shoulder with the included strap, which is plush and shouldn’t cause any soreness if you need to carry your bag for long distances. Now, the negatives:This bag is BULKY. If you’re only going to be carrying a laptop and charger, this probably isn’t the bag you’re going to want to go with. This is for professionals who need to carry files, laptop, chargers, hard drives, etc or a tech nerd like myself, who has multiple devices such as laptop with hard drive, mouse, headphones, MagSafe battery, iPad. Sometimes I need to carry a lot, and this bag was even pushing it for my needs.Second would be that the styling and functionality are slightly dated. Some features I would have like to have had in my bag would have been a softer material inside the laptop slot to reduce scratching, stretchier mesh for the inside pockets, Velcro to hold the handles together, and an integrated battery charger like some tech bags, but that’s not as big of a deal if you’re going to carry your own battery bank.In summary: this is a high quality bag for those who have multiple devices along with accessories, or professionals who need to work on the go.
