Rheem 3.5kW 120V Point of Use Tankless Electric Water Heater

First - I'm not new to tankless water heaters so I know what I am doing and know what I am getting going in.For my situation - I have a small 1 bedroom condo the Bathroom kitchen are all sharing the same wall. It will be centrally located less than 4ft from all facuet points. I live in Florida and my input ground water temp is almost 80 degrees year round. on top of that I was replacing an older 30 gal water heater that had #10 already ran to it (required for this one) and it was coming off a dual 30 amp which meant I could come off one side and get my 30amp 120 which is what this needs - and if i didnt like it I could upgrade to the 06 and it would take less than 15 min and this could sit in the closet as a back up.the key is to really understand the the flow rate and how it effects your temp as well as distance. in some some times its better to go with lower power and shorter distances which will have less heat loss as is my case.the con / recommendation if you buy one - get youself a very thin nut or a very fat washer for the npt connector depending on your installation you may have a leak and no more adjustment - im taking mine down adding a nut then a silicone washer - rethreading - then if i still have the leak i can adjust the extra washer downthe great thing - its super easy to do that - flip its breaker - take it off the wall do what you need - and your done.

The water heater did not meet expectations. 105° Maxium temperature @ 1/2 gallon per minute. It says it will Service 2 or 3 sinks. It will not Service 1 sink. 105° water is warm, not hot by any standard. Since it is 110-120 volts a.c. I assumed it literally plugged into a wall receptacle. NO, it had to be hard wired with 10 gauge wire. I even call the HELP LINE. I knew more about the heater than the Representative after I had installed it.

It doesn’t heat up if you turn the water on half way it can only be used when water runs Verry slow

I had a professional install this unit for use only for a washing machine. I was excited to get ride on my 40 gallon energy guzzler. The first time I turned the washer on hot, the heater never went above 69°. I live in Texas so we don’t have very cold inlet water. I had to turn the supply to the unit down to just a trickle to get it to heat above 100°. This is not even close to what I expected when I purchased the unit. I am so disappointed. I have purchased a different brand that is 240v. Now I have to have an electrician install new wiring.If you decide to purchase this, just understand what you are getting and make absolutely sure it is sufficient for your needs.

After a lot of work re-routing water lines for this unit to use for our shower, I was saddened to see how long it takes (3-4 minutes) for this device to produce water above skin temperature of 98 degrees. Our shower is a long way from the main water heater and we had to wait several minutes waiting for hot water to arrive. With this Rheem it takes about half that time; not "instant" at all. So we're not saving water or electricity as much as we hoped, or if at all.If this unit could be turned on before turning on the water flow, perhaps then hot water would be ready when we want it. Since it only activates itself when it senses water flowing through it, that's sadly not an option.Neither Rheem nor Amazon have responded to my requests for help.

This works great and heats up our water perfectly

Purchased two of these point of use tankless electric water heaters. Purchased 10 guage wiring as recommended and purchased new 30 amp breakers. Then paid a professional also recommended t come install them, only to have each unit never power up. Even had a 2nd professional come out to look at it and he confirmed that both units must be defective. DO NOT BUY this product it is a waste of time and money.

Heating hot water under the sink, no more wasting water

I have to agree with the reviews - this is not a good water heater. Worked for a few months - the water was warm, not hot, and it didn't stay warm for long before turning cold. Spend a bit more and get something that works!
