This kit is incomplete in my opinion. You must run a switch or it will drain your battery. It's a low amp draw so no relay needed but it never hurts to wire the switch and lights via a relay.Also I have 1 light pod that other LED's light. For example pink has blue also lit at the same time. Yellow and red also same issue. It sucks to have to change it being brand new. For a vehicle the wires are definitely to short and you will need 2 to 4 extensions.The remote you must press buttons hard to operate the colors or modes. However the app connects instantly and works great with little effort.EDIT: Company reached out and send me new pods and remote. They also sent me extensions that I won't need. 4 stars updated because they will try and resolve any issues which is nice.

I wanted to buy a set of rock lights ever since I'd seen some on a decked out Razer. They just looked so cool! So, I jump on Amazon and find a decent deal on a set. I debated between the 4 light kit and the 8 light kit. It was a tough decision so I bought both with the intent of returning the one I wouldn't use. I ended up settling on the 8 light kit and sold the 4 light kit to my buddy because he loved them too.Now, these are considerably cheaper than many other branded kits I've seen out there, however, they seem to be of pretty decent quality. The light housing is made of aluminum and the lens is glass. Only time will tell how well they hold up to the abuse of being in a wheel well with mud, rocks, and sand whipping on them daily.Installation was pretty easy. The toughest part was trying to run all the wires so they would be concealed. I put this kit on a 2018 Defender and there was plenty of cable length for my setup. I only had 1 pod that was a bit far, but I made that one work. Most of them were installed with the included bolts, but I did have to modify many of the mounts for my application.I had noticed a little too late that they say the control box is NOT waterproof. This made me have to re-run all my wiring so I could relocate the box higher up in the buggy to prevent any potential water damage. Another thing I noticed was that the cable ends were all a bit crushed, making it tougher to insert. They can only go in one way as there is a little tab to line up. It wasn't a big deal though.I'm glad I chose the 8 light kit over the 4 lights because you get a better effect. There is more wire to run and it clearly doubles you install time, but it's worth. I put one in each wheel well, 1 front center, 1 rear center and 2 inside the cab mounted high. The lights are pretty bright, however, I've seen brighter. I am happy with the brightness level as you usually only run these at night anyways.Once I was ready to test, I jumped online for the app. I read many reviews saying that the app was hard to find. I had absolutely no issues and it installed fine. It paired very quickly and the controls are fairly easy. The app itself is not overly complex, but it does offer a very good choice of color options. My only real complaint about the app is the music picker. If you choose that option, it basically just sorts all of your song titles in alphabetical order. That makes it really tough to search for a song. You must use the app if you want the pods to go to the beat and you must have music stored on your phone.I tested all the app options. The standard color pickers are simple and you can customize your colors as well. There are many choices here. The Tape (voice) setting makes the lights change with your vocals picked up by your phone's mic. The same principle applies to the music option. It relies on your phone's MIC to go with the tunes you're playing. It does a decent job of it. (video included in the review) It's important to note that you can't be playing music on your phone and use the "Tape" option. As soon as you activate "Tape", it kills your music player. You can only one option at a time.Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and would highly recommend them. I got lucky as I bought them before price went up. There was also a coupon to clip at the time of purchase to the price was right.
