Hood stays up now!
After I kept forgetting that the struts were failing and I kept hitting the back of my head, I bought the replacements. This is easy to install and replace and now I have to watch my chin as the hood flies up! Works as promised.

Excellent replacement part
This was installed on a 2011 Ford Expedition. These were rated fairly high and weren’t the most expensive ones on Amazon so I gave them a try. Easy off, easy on. I didn’t realize the oem struts were so worn out until I popped off the driver’s side and the hood came down unexpectedly. After installing that one I removed the passenger side rod and the hood didn’t drop at all. It is a big difference in open height and force to shut the hood. I would recommend these to anyone for this application. I will update this if anything changes.
