🕷️ Build, Code, and Conquer the Robotics Realm!
The Adeept Quadruped Spider Robot Kit is a comprehensive educational tool designed for aspiring engineers and tech enthusiasts. This bionic robot can be controlled remotely via infrared or a Python GUI app, making it an ideal project for STEAM education. The kit includes a detailed PDF manual for easy assembly, though users will need to provide their own 2x18650 batteries for operation.

Excellent instructions and tutorial
First thing I noticed was the only documentation included in this kit was a 'thank you' card, which had the manufacturer's link to the instructions and tutorials. This is becoming a more popular way for companies to keep updated documents available to all. They also have a support email, and an online forum. The kit itself is packed full of parts. There is a lot of them, and you need to remove them all from the box to get to the first ones you'll need (in the bottom of the box, of course). Listing claims this does not come with 18650 batteries, but my kit came with two, in a protective storage case. Instructions stated to use 3000mAh batteries, but the ones included were marked 2000mAh. I also found a USB (micro-B) cable, and screwdrivers and wrench for assembling this robot.First step is getting your software development environment set up. Then you get to upload a program to the robot you have not built yet. Minor error in documentation here.Batteries were shipped charged to 50%, so I put them in my charger. Perhaps this kit could include a charger? Doesn't really matter to me, but is something that might matter to you.Now for the fun part--Assembly! The body of this robot is laser cut plastic, About 1/8" thick. It's like finding a jigsaw puzzle to find the part you need, as they are not marked, but the pictures in the assembly many should guide you to the proper part. The laser cut pieces had a paper backing, and where they were located on the sheet made it obvious they were cut out separately, and inserted into openings in a different board. There is a paper coating on both sides of each sheet--the laser cutting so precise, that I had great difficulty removing the protective paper from each of the plastic body parts.I thought I'd have a lot to say about assembly--instructions are very well written, with easy to understand pictures of what parts go together, and what it should look like when you're done. I sure it would help to have slender fingers and good eyesight (of which I have neither), but a pair of fine tipped tweezers worked well for me.After assembling (it took me 2 evenings, and yes, it was quite fun!), the manual had a link to a video of how to calibrate the servos (for fine tuning). Also, I found a two-video tutorial (40 minutes total) there. Would have been nice to watch this first. The only thing not covered in the manual (but is shown in the videos) was how to 'dress' the wires neatly, so right now they are just flopping all over the place. When I inserted the batteries, the robot lit up, first in white, then after about 10 seconds it turned a blueish tint. I pulled out the included IR remote control, and started pushing buttons. The robot then began to walk!I found this to be a very enjoyable project. As for age rating--a young teen who has built models in the past should not have difficulty with this kit.

Your gunna break the frame once or twice
Plastic frame is pretty brittle, online manual feels like they forgot to make one after they shipped the first robot and quickly through something together in a pdf. I got mine together in about two hours regardless, but right know I’m trying to figure out if the servos even can hold the things own weight lol even with the negatives it is pretty fun to put together (I don’t regret buying it yet) I just wouldn’t buy it for a kid. GREAT if you want to figure out arduino for the first time. If they made the Servos better and had a carbon fiber frame this would be amazing.

Did not work. Customer service won't reply.
I bought and assembled it, but after rechecking and rebuilding more than three times, I found out the issue was with the robot instead of my build. Assembly and debugging instructions are useless and very thrown together, and customer service never responded after I emailed. Please buy a different robot if you are planning on gifting.

Missing directions on how to assemble
I got this item for my nephew's birthday. There was no directions on how to assemble no picture of item so he could see what it was supposed to look like. Very dissatisfied with the item.
