Can't believe the real problem started nearby chapter 15! The kid (John), didn't talk, I think in total there are like 19 dialogues. I think I could recommend this book for people who love mystery, and even though I love mystery, I think A. Clements should have added a bit more socializing and more characters. It didn't feel like other Andrew Clements' book, it felt like... A book to read when you are bored and you are home alone with nothing to do. But if you didn't like this book by A. Clements, try another one. They are really worth spending hours and hours of reading. One friend of mine recommended me the book, and she was pretty excited about me reading it, so I said "Why not?". If you like other books by Clements and you have a taste in books like my taste, then, I don't recommend it, but if its the first book you read by Clements, I recommend it, so then, you'll see his books can be better. A LOT better.

9 year old loved this book
The character development and plot line kept him engaged, and he read it very happily cover to cover. He is interested in reading more books by this author. Excellent story according to the kiddo! Additionally we downloaded Kindle onto his Samsung tablet, and it all came together easily as an on-the-go book when we didn't have time to purchase the hardcover book.

Great an surprising
I thought this was going to be mostly a simple jokey book but it turned out to have some pretty great deeper meaning. Perfect for a fifth grade kid.

Great read
I read this with my son for his 5th grade summer reading. This was the perfect book for him and he really enjoyed reading it. I will make sure my 7 yr old reads it when he is in 5th grade.

Enjoyable Novel For Young Readers
This is a good book for young readers. I think that young kids who are going through the same situation as in the book can really relate to it. The only thing I didn't really like was was the length of the book.

Great book
I love how at the end of the book how John Rankin and Jack Rankin shared a great relationship. I love that John and Jack were acted like best friends at the end of the book.

Not a Graphic Novel
For people looking for graphic novel, this is not the genre. It is just a novella for kids between 7-10 years and it has one or two sketches. The print quality is great and the content, of course, is very intelligent and fun. Go for it but don't presume that this is a graphic novel.
