It cools and is comfortable, without any leaking, but is rather small for my pillow (which is a small standard size) and I would have preferred a larger version if available. Not surprisingly, it gets warm after using it for a while, and I either turn over the pillow or just pull it out. I use it with about 3 pillowcases over the top so it does not feel so freezing cold when taken out of the fridge. The gel seems to be in 4 compartments which are connected, so it is better to keep the pad lying flat when in the fridge, or flat folded in half.I got the pad because I tend to get a hot flash when first lying down to sleep. This does seems to help that a lot.

It's not as big as I thought it was going to be and doesn't stay cold as long as I'd like and it feels sort of horrible under your head BUT I use it almost nightly for hot-flashes (I put it under my back, not my head) and it helps a lot, sometimes even staying cool long enough for me to fall back asleep. It's not perfect but I traveled to Europe recently without it and I missed it every night, so there's that.

This does get nice and cold in the fridge, I've used it in my pillow case and under my sheet for my back. It feels great when I first get into bed. However, it seems I'm usually waking up a few hours later and it's no longer cool. If I take it out, it cools off some, but not enough for me . So my verdict- stars out great but doesn't last long. I also noticed at the time of this review, it has gone up in price substantially. Glad I purchased at the lower price.

I purchased two of these mats. My husband keeps one in the freezer for his back when he strains it. I keep one next to my bed. Whenever I get too hot or have a hot flash, I grab it and I instantly feel the coolness. I find it cooling without refrigeration or freezing. As soon as I am no longer hot, I put it back so it is ready for the next time. I'm sure if I slept on it, it would lose it's cooling effect. I will definitely buy more to have handy. This mat will become more of a necessity for me as I continue to move towards menopause. It was $6 when I purchased and it was definitely money well spent. This mat has done a better job of easing hot flashes than the cooling mattress/mattress pad, cooling sheets/pillowcases, or cooling pajamas I have purchased and it was way cheaper! Construction is sturdy. I see no evidence of wear and I have been using it consistently for several months now. Purchased in September.

*update 7/2018 - My daughter is unable to sleep without her "cold". She will cry for at night. We even took it to Europe on vacation and have 2 for rotation. I want to order more, but now it's unavailable.*This has been absolutely perfect for my hot sleeper toddler, who likes a cold room, cold bed and can't sleep if she's too warm. She tears at her ears causing trauma and cries for a cold pak, this pad is perfect for her pillow and keeps her ears cool. She also has a sweaty head at night which causes her eczema to flare and she scratches her head raw. This pad had been wonderful at keeping her head cool and alleviating that problem. I ordered 2 and keep one in the freezer and one simply stays in her pillow as it is pretty cool without the added chilling. As an added bonus, it has a nice weight to it and my toddler likes to have it put on her back for comfort.

I was expecting a cooling gel mat. What i got was an oversized Ice Pack. Color is different and the coolness did not last. Overall, it was pretty uncomfortable to sleep with. I did return this item, and may possibly give them another chance with a different item

What an awesome product! I am a restless sleeper and the thing that causes me the most discomfort is a pillow that is too soft or too firm. Usually, I can find a one I like but I have NEVER found one that cools my head and neck. I was skeptical when I bought this cooling pad. I slipped it into the pillow cover and went to sleep. HEAVEN! IMy face, head, and neck remained cool all night long! I waited for 3 nights before telling my wife how good it is. She promptly took it and now I have to order another one! Oh, I did not mention that she hates hot pillows more than anyone I know so she is thrilled.Great product. I recommend it 100%!

This is a really great ice pack. Once fully frozen it is still very flexible. It has come in handy many times already & I haven't had it but for 1-2 weeks! I'd absolutely recommend this product. It's nicely made & the edges are soft & not scratchy (other ice packs I've bought in the past have been sealed a certain way making the edges rough & scratchy, this ice pack is NOT this way, it's nice & soft). I'm very happy with this & am considering on buying another one to have as a backup. ;) I'm very pleased with the quality of the product & definitely recommend it!
