Awesome book!
I have read about 20 pages of this book so far and am absolutely hooked! As an indigenous Maori midwife I have found it fascinating reading about the whenua (placenta) and Robin's discussion on the sacredness of the placenta and how the biomedical dominance of childbirth has inflicted trauma upon the infant and placenta, i.e. the next generation. IT IS AN AWESOME BOOK for those health professionals who are trained within a biomedical dominant health system environment, despite being a 'feminist' midwife. Definitely a book to read for those health professionals interested in developing the spiritual and mental aspects of holistic health care. Will wait until I have completely read the book and will do a Vlog review on my Kia Kaha Mama page!

READ THIS BOOK
I am currently 11weeks 5 days pregnant and am planning on home birthing. Pregnancy has always been a spiritual journey for me and wanted to explore more of the placenta and how it connects with my body and baby. "The Forgotten Chakra" is wonderfully written bringing in different ancient views of birth. Robin Lim is a beautiful writer that notes from her midwifery experience and deep interest.I highly recommend this book for all pregnant women that are wanting to connect deeper to their babies.

Book Review
I ordered this book, and it didn't take long for it to come in the mail. I'm pregnant, and wanted to learn more about lotus births, since there's not many books or any information online. I learned a lot and feel like i'm confident and prepared for my little one's arrival. I recommend this book for anyone looking to learn more information. Throughout the book it also has more books and websites you can go on to learn more as well.

Mind blowing!
Every person on earth should read this book. It is mind blowing. It has plenty of citations for studies for those who like that sort of thing. I found myself crying my eyes out and grieving a placenta that became "medical waste." I came to the realization that this is my deepest regret as a mother. Now that I have read this book, I am planning a lotus birth for my second child. I just wish I could have done the same for my first. This information is so important. Thank you, Ibu Robin. <3

Thought-provoking book
This was a well-written book, although a bit biased. It combines both science and tradition. I appreciate that Robin explained how the mother-baby blood circulation works in utero. She makes really good arguments for a partial Lotus Birth and presents scientific evidence to back her claims (lower levels of anemia in the baby, lower risk of Rh- sensitization in the mother). She seems a bit biased toward a full Lotus Birth and wasn't able to provide much evidence beyond anecdotal claims. Also, I wished she talked about the risks involved with a full Lotus Birth, too (yanking the cord, the placenta becoming infected, injury to the baby, etc.). Lastly, the evidence behind the benefits of placentophagy is lacking.Overall, I'm glad I read this book and I learned a lot from it. The placenta should definitely be treated with more respect in a spiritual context. I would recommend this book to expectant mothers, midwives and OB/GYNs.

good read for pregnant or not pregnant, for doulas or midwifes
I really like this book, I read it twice and now give it to all my doula clients. Moreover I often recommend to read it before pregnancy to all young women I meet and talk about life and birth. I love this book, I never came across with so much knowledge and experience about placenta. It showed me so many missing puzzles about the natural non violent birth, about my own birth and birth of my children. I ordered it as a gift to my teacher of traditional birth attendant study group. Highly recommended to all who believe in power of birth, who see the birth as sacred event in woman's and baby's life.

Expandir consciencia
Me cambio toda la perspectiva a cerca de la placenta , la honro muchísimo y en mi experiencia fue bello permitir que mi bebé durara 23 horas conectada a su placenta.
