Awesome video record deck
We use these as backup decks for most of our live captures. Occasionally they are the main recorded source as well. Easy capture to FCPX or Premier. We're feeding them SDI with embedded audio and they are working great.

Great in and Apple world, no so in a PC world.
Great machine. If your in the PC world it's difficult to create a chip it will read/playback. I have to build my video, record it on a PC and playback and record on the HyperDeck to get it to work.

Format SD card tip
I discovered why the Hyperdeck Mini wouldn't recognize my 128GB SD cards! I inserted the cards in the deck, the green indicator lights came on and the Hyperdeck Mini screen display said, "No card." Yes, the cards matched the Blackmagic requirements, and yes, I had formatted them as exFAT in a PC. Here's the tip: Do not perform a "quick format." Rather, do a full exFAT format (128GB cards take a while). I did this and the Hyperdeck Mini recognized the cards - Ya!Btw, when the Hyperdeck Mini displayed "No card" that also means it won't allow you to select its own Format Card function because it doesn't "see" a card in the SD card slots.

recorder/player, NOT a player
If you want to record content and play back what you recorded, here's your box. If you want to play video files created on your computer or other devices, keep looking.Big Blackmagic Design fan, wanting something that would play clips for our church's streaming worship. Loved the easy "just press play" interface for full screen video (great for tech-challenged volunteers.) Unfortunately, I found out that it's very difficult to create a file with the particular codec that will play on Studio HD Mini. Most files simply won't play. Alas...need to find another solution.
