EstesRockets 1293 Black Brant III Rocket Kit, Skill Level 2

I had this when I was a kid. just like years ago, it takes off FAST and keeps going (hope you have a good eye). But, unlike years ago, I got this back right after the launch. My first one landed about 1/2 mile away and given back a couple years later. I would recommend using a streamer or cut a hole the parachute so it doesn't float so far. The speed that it took off at caused a crease in the body tube; I think that was my fault because the tube was slightly damaged when I got it. That is easy to fix by attaching a thin piece of balsa wood to that that part of the body tube.

It is not clear from the product description that is comes with no engine/propellant or launch controller. Not clear at all what is needed to actually launch it. Sits unpacked, will request a refund

A joy to build and a delight to fly. Not for beginners but if you have a few model rockets under your belt you'll find that this comes together beautifully. Even better are the flights. This kit LOVES the Quest Q-Jet composite motors (though they'll require a large field).Normally when one of my rockets gets lost or damaged beyond repair I'll replace it with a different kit, but when a tree ate my first Black Brant III I immediately took out my phone and ordered a new one. That's how much I enjoy this rocket.As an aside, I recommend getting a fin alignment guide. Estes makes one for cheap and it fits a variety of rocket tube and fin sizes.

Done a couple of these rockets now. This was by far the worse to assemble and results were poor. Much better options out there.
