Q: Are these good for welding?

they are good for handling sharp metals and do provide a heat insulation, but I wear a heavy cotton shirt to keep them from getting burn holes in them.

Q: Protect from hot grease splashes?

Hello, I used these while working with 380+ heated ovens in rubber molding. While some oil and grease were present, I would not use with heavy splashing. Overall, I recommend these for preventing burns. Love them!
