I’ve been fortunate enough to be offered this item as part of the Vine programme, so it hasn’t cost me anything. When considering what to write in a review, price is a consideration and my first thought was that it seems quite expensive. However, having received the woodpecker ( and other birds in the range), I have no hesitation in saying these are absolutely superb. They’re not machine pressed imports, mass produced in some far off factory and churned out by the multiple thousands. They’re hand made, in the UK and they’ll last a lifetime and longer and still look good.The ornament is presented in a card outer and would make an outstanding gift. It’s very easy to position; you just bang the spike into the tree trunk or post. It looks stunning and somehow the design with manages to capture the fact that it’s a woodpecker. It’s very clever. It’s weighty and unlikely to be blown out of position and it’s something that truly will last forever. If you move home, you can pull it out and take it to a new residence. I had a friend who was a blacksmith and used to watch him making works of art at his forge. It took hours but the end result was incredible. That’s why I believe this is such good value. Similar imports available at garden centres cost around the same price so I have no hesitation in recommending this and encouraging you to consider supporting British craftwork.

This comes packed in a simple wooden box with leaflet explaining the background to the metal bird project and showing different birds in the range. I love that this is made in the U.K. and is supporting a small manufacturer. The leaflet explains that because of the steel it is made from over weeks the bird will start to rust and go orange forming a protective coat and then over subsequent years will turn darker brown and then almost back to black.It took a good few hits with the hammer to get it into the fence post but it wasn’t too difficult and it seems to be firmly in place.Will definitely be looking to buy these as presents for family and friends in the future as I think they make a great and unusual gift.

This is such a great design and looks fabulous! It is not some thin piece of rubbish, it is thick, quality metal. You feel safe to hammer it into a tree without bending it. The design is beautiful and i am now waiting to see our Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers sit on it.This is a lovely garden orniment or a gift for someone who is garden proud. Very nicely finished and an unusual, beautiful piece of metal work.

This is a very attractive garden ornament. Very solid and well made in UK – it will gradually rust and gain an interesting patina. We drilled a hole in the tree before putting up our woodpecker with a few strokes of a hammer. It seems to be very firmly in place.It does not show up particularly well where I have positioned it as it has dark trees in the background and would look better against the open sky.Quite expensive but will last forever.

Excellent quality metal woodpecker, extremely strong and well made. Hammered in very easily without leaving damage on the bird. Looks beautiful

So far it hasn't scared the birds away from the feeder! It looks really good when the sun catches it and the shadows spralls out on the chimney.It is really easy to install, either drill a small hole and bang in with a hammer, or just bang in with a hammer.The results speak for themselves, just look at the pics, amazing and all made in the UK by a small business.Overall I'd recommend these metal birds, OK they are a tad pricy but they really are quality products and will just look better with age.
