Pagan Portals - Sekhmet

Well-written
As Kemetic devoted of Sekhmet, I'm already quite familiar with Her and the stories, research and ancient devotions honouring Her. Even so, I was excited for this book to be released and had pre-ordered it. While the views of some people quoted in the book always make me question if they known the same Netjeret that I do, the author did a good job at putting things into the right perspective. Well researched and thorough for its size, this book serves as a great introduction to a great Goddess. The bibliography is plenty extensive enough to give the curious some places to explore. I would have liked to see more in the chapter on prayers, but given the length she had to work with, she did wel l. I would definitely recommend it to those who wanted to know more but felt overwhelmed by the information available.

Oh sekhmet
Whilst this book contains some great historical facts it comes off as a reference book to other authors books. Pagan portal books are usually books that offer you some insight including how to and references to actual tangible offerings and rituals and symbols of so you can practice or begin to. This book doesn’t give you festival dates or any reference lists or even basic ritual outlines for those beginners that are looking for a portal into sekhmet. As an experience priestess of Sekhmet I bought this as a gift for a beginner hoping it would indeed be a portal but have since decided not to as not fit for portal purpose.

Wonderful book about the Goddess Sekhmet!
I loved this book! It’s really a beautiful book, well written and well researched, written by an Egyptologist and Priestess – which makes for a great combination! The author combines the scholarly sources with contemporary Pagan perspectives, always making sure the two are kept clearly distinguished – which is one of the reasons I love this book. Although I have read quite a lot about ancient Egypt and ancient Egyptian deities, I learnt many interesting facts through this lovely little book, and I feel I know Sekhmet much better now. Written with a sound knowledge of the subject and with obvious love for the Goddess at the same time. Whether you are an ancient Egypt enthusiast or a devotee of Sekhmet, this book is highly recommended!
