This skimmer is dead quiet. There’s is a little noise from the air intake but it’s no louder than the HVAC. You have to be near it to notice it. The control knob is sensitive and easy to use.I ran mine in vinegar and tap water for 72 hours before putting it in the tank. Pay attention to the water line printed on the back near the top magnet too to ensure it works for, the beginning.I had no micro bubbles and while it’s still breaking in/getting dialed in it pulled black water out within 12 hours in an empty tank. It does skim wet compared to traditional cone skimmers. I have used expensive HOB filters and this thing is far better in noise, skimmate, and ease of use.I had planned to drill a fitting into the collection cup for drainage but in my Nuvo 40 AIO the cup sits below the glass and so it’s not possible.

I purchased a used RSM 250 tank a few years ago and was never happy with the stock skimmer for several reasons. It was loud, would overflow randomly and was a pain to adjust. The stock skimmer pump also put off a lot of heat causing my water temp to always remain high. (I replaced the stock lights with LED's to help lower the temps)While I realize quiet is a relative term, the DOC 9004 DC is whisper quiet compared to the stock skimmer. So quiet, that I have to remove the collection cup to see if it's still on.It produces dark, thick skimmate without removing a lot of water from the tank, which my ATO really likes.During the break-in period, I did see some micro bubbles that others had mentioned in their reviews but after a week or so, they were gone.If you're a RSM 250 owner and are looking for a solid replacement for the stock skimmer, give this one a shot. As an added bonus, it's MUCH smaller than the stock skimmer so there's a ton of room in the rear skimmer chamber that I may install a DIY fuge.

Garbage Product from Germany ! Can't restart after the first time cleaning the cup !!! Don't buy this fancy idea product ! Beware !!! Then I paid more money to buy Deltec MC500 protein skimmer , reliable and powerful , satisfied with it so far !

Bought this skimmer 2 months ago for a 30g marine aquarium. No complaints so far. It is very easy to assemble and install, basically a plug-and-play. After installation it just started skimming right away, there was no break-in period. The instruction manual is not the best but neither it is needed, it comes assembled, you just need to attach it to the back wall with included magnets. This device does not produce lots of tiny bubbles, a typical issue with skimmers. I don’t know much about the DC pump, all I can tell it is very quiet and it works. Made in Germany. This model has a “remote” control, basically a blue box on a cable with a button for cup cleaning and a valve for regulating the flow. I find it not essential but convenient. When you need to clean the cup, you press the red button and it stops the skimmer for 10 min allowing you to wash the cup. When you’re done just press it again. Overall, this skimmer has exceeded my expectations and I find it perfect for my aquarium size. I’d buy it again with no hesitation.

Too expensive. Easily clogs. Hard to take apart and get back together.

This skimmer is great for small and nano tanks. I have it on my fluval 13.5. It does create micro bubbles tho.

It takes a bit of getting used to, but this skimmer rocks. It produces much less waste water and more actual waste than a lot of skimmers, plus it is very easy to clean and service. I prefer the controller, but again, it takes getting used to. A couple of important things to know about these skimmers. When they arrive, the bubble hose may have disconnected in skipping. It takes all of 2 minutes to fix this, but it will not work unless it is connected. Another thing is that it takes a break in period where it WILL produce a ton of waste water. Don't worry, you'll get through it as you learn to adjust it.
