Superb quality - superb entertainment
Having watched the black and white box-set and enjoyed every minute of it, it was unlikely that we wouldn't enjoy these colour episodes of the iconic sixties show. We were not disappointed. The shows themselves, the stories and the acting need no review here - Roger Moore's 'The Saint' became iconic because it was good entertainment - amongst the best TV shows ever produced - as is very well known and you either like the genre or you don't. What I will comment upon is the visual and auditory quality of these DVDs and all I can say is that they are superb. I don't know if they have been digitally restored or enhanced - but whether they have been or not, the audio and visual quality of these DVDs watched today on a large screen TV is a tremendous credit to those who produced the original shows and made the original films and sound recordings. Anyone who buys DVDs of 60s TV shows will know that sometimes the quality can be uneven and occasionally disappointing - but not in this case. These DVDs allow The Saint to be enjoyed in far better quality than was ever possible on the 405 or 625 line TV sets on which they were first seen - these are beautiful recordings which come across perfectly in the modern digital format of DVD.

The Saint -The Complete Colour Series DVD
Not really much more to say than has already been said, if you like the Saint or if you like Roger Moore playing the Saint then this is a good buyHaving read most of the books I could never quite relate Roger Moore to Simon Templar, two very different characters, but Moore does a decent enough job in a generally enjoyable series and many of the tales themselves are close enough in plotI think sometimes you simply have to look at the merit of the film or TV series in it's own right rather than comparing to the book, I mean Jason Bourne in films is nothing like the books and yet Matt Damon manages to do a great job despite that and Moore brings his own character to the Saint in much the same way he brought it to Bond

Classic Adventures of Roger Moore's Eyebrows
Amazingly, we never watched The Saint the first time around, so we can now discover a classic 1960s series, with all the strengths and weaknesses that we could expect from a contemporary of The Avengers. Roger Moore flexes his eyebrows in an acting tour de force full of his cool English Gentleman persona, and it's all rather charming. It's entertaining and well produced and well worth watching.

The Colourful Simon Templar continues to delight!
"The Saint: The Complete Colour Series" wonderfully picks up where the b/w episodes left off. While the nicely eclectic through-the-fourth-wall addresses to the audience by Roger Moore's main character are replaced by simple introductory voiceovers and are missed, this is, in fact, the show's way of gracefully growing up. This colourful collection of episodes is also blessed with both feature-length versions of both final-season two-part episodes, along with the rather witty restrospective documentary "The Saint Steps In... To Colour", plus more. For anyone seeking the best of British TV from the late 1960's, this is a delight not to be missed. Cheers!

When I hear the name..."The Saint"...I always think of Roger Moore.
We are watching the series now and enjoying the various episodes. The older series writers seemed to make a better effort to take an authors' books and turn it into a good TV show.Roger Moore is the Saint. Have seen George Sanders and others in this role, but "The Saint" will always be Roger Moore. This is the color set and with the various episodes taking place in several countries you get to see most of the famous places in each country in living color while enjoying the plot and action. Also, they seem to keep the same police officers in the various countries so it is fun to watch them try to out wit the Saint. The Saint is usually saving someone or playing cat & mouse with the police, the bad guys or both.If you liked Roger Moore as James Bond, you will love him as "The Saint."

Great show, great buy!
Before he was James Bond, Roger Moore (Sir Roger Moore) was Simon Templar, the Saint, and he was the apotheosis of the dashing, do-gooding, crime-solving adventure seeker created by Leslie Charteris and featured in a long-running series of pulp detective stories and in a B-movie series in the late '30's starring George Sanders. Roger Moore, after honing his acting skills and developing his poised, debonair persona in several TV series, was ideally cast as the Saint and he made the most of his part. Looking back five decades, has there even been a more handsome, charming, or heroic actor on television? The series began at the beginning of the '60's in black and white and was one of the more polished productions to come out of England and to be aired in America, first in syndication, then on network. This set presents all of the later, color episodes and they look stunning. The shows were handsomely produced and were set in a variety of glamorous locales. To be sure, the stories are light entertainment, but are always fun to watch -- a hero who can handle anything that comes his way, some action, suspense, mystery, beautiful sets and scenery, a fight or two and pretty girls, do you need more? And this set, very moderately priced, is a great buy.

Great Fun !!!
What a wonderful buy and great price. So much entertainment for one series. Roger Moore is simply the most charasmatic actor out of England. He was unquestionably the most enjoyable James Bond and shined as the Saint. I love both the Monochrome series and the color episodes. The extras are fun too. I have been enjoying an episode every night since I purchased the series. I live in America but I love shopping Amazon UK because they have everything I cannot reasonably attain in the US. I'm glad I have a region free player so I can enjoy them. The Saint is definately one of the best action shows out of the UK.

For all Fans of 'TheSaint' a must have!
What a treat it is to watch this series again after I last saw it as a young man. I am astonished how good the picture quality is given the technology at that time. It makes me wonder if the original was recorded on film. The digital re-mastering is suburb. I watch this on a modern 65" smart TV and while it is not in true 16:9 the picture is more than acceptable in my mind. If you are thinking of purchasing it and the SAINT was a favourite of yours in the past, just get it I can recommend this offering.

Fond Memories
I'm not quite old enough to remember these when they first aired but I remember watching repeats with my grandfather and always looked forward to the next adventure. While the series is unmistakenly fixed in the 60's the stories still hold up even if Roger Moore was never quite the Saint from the novels. Network have done an excellent job (as usual) and this box set is first rate with plenty of extras to satisfy the ardent fan. I'm only hoping now that the new Saint series that Roger is involved with hits the ground running - they've made a pilot but no news on when or if we will get to see it.
