Ray of Light (Ray #1)

This is a funny, romantic series. I have yet to read the 2nd book. But the first really captured my attention. I need to read the rest to see how story unfolds!

I really enjoyed this book. The relationships between Rae, Rex and their friends was so close, I wanted to be included in their group. I am hoping that the other characters get developed more as the series continues. It is always nice to read a romance book where the female lead is strong and assertive, but is still soft and has those internal debates we all have when it comes to romance.

Ray of Light by E.L. Todd is a book about Rae and her brother Rex and their lives. The book in a dual perspective book, but unlike other books the two perspectives aren't the two love interests but the brother and sister, Rae and Rex who are currently living together while Rex tries to get his business of the ground. There is just the right amount of humor, romance and sex in this book.Rae meets sexy Ryker, while out on a run with her dog Safari. Safari takes a liking to Ryker and Ryker immediately takes a liking to Rae. Although Ray passes on going back to Ryker's place with him when they first meet, she runs into him again at a basketball game with her brother and his friends. Turns out Ryker is a friend of her brother who just moved back to town after 10 years away. Ryker pursues Rae again and since Ray was regretting passing up the chance to be with Ryker the first time she had the chance, she decides to go for it, with the understanding it would be a one night only thing. Except it turns into more for both of them.Although I enjoyed reading about Rex's life, I would have really loved to have learned more about Ryker's feelings towards Rae. I would have loved to have found out more about Ryker's life and why he is the way he is and more about his family. Perhaps we'll learn more about this in the other books in the series since it seemed like maybe there is more to the story of his dad retiring.I really enjoyed the relationship between Rae and Rex and how close they were yet. Although they fought and drove each other crazy, like many siblings, they both had each others back and wanted to best for each other. I hope the future books in the series get more into Rex's life and I really am hoping something happens between Rex and Kayden. I can't wait to find out what happens between Rae and Ryker and I really hope there is a happy ending for the two of them.

Enjoyed the book- definitely got me hooked on the series, BUT there are so many typos throughout all of them which drives me insane.

SPOILERS!!!I loved this book! I mean it was a lot of back and forth with Rae and her brother Rex. Rae has a very interesting life with being a scientist and than hanging out with her best friends all the time. I loved her from the beginning like she could do anything she wanted. Just because she is a girl doesn't make her any different than a boy. I love her carefree attitude and her outlook on life. Ryker and her are a very good couple and I cannot wait to see where is goes.Rex was a little bit different. He is very care free and doesn't care what people think about him to a point. I think he just wanted to make something of his life by buying the bowling alley but it did not work for him. I love how his sister has his back in the book. She cares about him a lot even though they tease each other a lot.In the end it was cliffhanger but the series is very good so far! :)

What just happened? It can't be finished?! This quirky, steamy love story is a winner and I want...no I NEED more! This was my first read from this author and I'm pretty sure I found a new author to go to for twisted and quirky rom-com ...yay!Things I loved: Characters and plot. Ryker is hawt!!! His alpha male personality meets his match in the quirky, nerdy and sexy Rae. The heat between these two burns hot in every encounter and left me fanning myself...hehe. I loved that Ryker is more than his perceived man-whore status and loved that Rae's spunky mouth and confidence was just the right thing to tame the sexy beast since she dared to tell him NO! The beauty of the story though lies in the secondary characters that play an integral role in the development of Ryker's and Rae's relationship, specifically Rex and Zeke. Rex, had me rolling with laughter and Zeke if I could give him a hug, I would. The banter between every character was also a plus in this story.Things I didn't like too much: Holy heavens ....the questions!! I have so, so many and I can't put them here because I don't want to spoil it for anyone. The ending came and I'm totally hanging. It was just not how I thought it would end. Damn I want to know what happens next so bad. Another thing that sort of stood out was the transitions were not as smooth as could be between scenes which inadvertently led to some timeline discrepancy. However, it did not affect the story significantly.Will I read this author again: Hands down YES! I have to know what happens!
