Good idea, but didn't work for me.
I tried the Effetto Mariposa Caffelatex Tubeless Conversion Kit on my road bike and my results were quite poor. The product itself does say that it can be used for road tires, as well as on the website, but a customer service representative informed me that this product is generally for mountain bike tire use only.I had a hard time setting the rim tape, as it wasn't very flexible or sticky. In order for the system to work, there must be no air bubbles, wrinkles, or gaps in the tape, which was very difficult to accomplish. After setting the tape and attempting to fill the tires with sealant and inflate was catastrophic to say the least.I followed the directions and installed the "tubeless ready" (used a Hutchinson Intensive Tubeless tire) with the sealant inside. The instructions say that you should inject the sealant through the valve stem with the core removed. Simply pouring the sealant into the tire before putting it all the way on the rim was much more effective... and much less messy. The instructions don't say to coat the outside in soapy water, but tutorials on the website and on youtube suggest that this is a necessary step. I suds-ed up my tire and rim, making sure to get full coverage and tried to inflate with a standard floor pump. It took a few rapid pumps, but the tire did make it up to 40 psi. The downside is it was also spraying sealant everywhere (out of the valve stem, spoke holes, and several points on the rim) and coating my room with caffelatex.A second attempt (after cleaning up) actually did seal and made it up to 70 psi (I guess the previous mishap sealed all of the holes). However, at 80 psi the tire blew off the rim catastrophically scaring my neighbors, deafening my hearing in one ear, and coating me in... you guessed it... caffelatex. The good news is: I was able to get a full refund without much fuss.

A Great Conversion Kit Worth Considering
After several attempts with multiple tires (i.e. Maxxis Ikon and Kenda Small Block Eights) on my Sun Ringle EQ25 rims, I was having little success with the Stan's NoTubes conversion kit. I probably could have successfully converted my tires to tubeless with the aid of an air compressor and/or drilling out the valve stem hole on my rim (which Stan's recommends) but call me stubborn, I didn't want to do either. So on the verge of breaking down and paying a local bike shop to complete the conversion for me, based on some reviews I had read, I thought I'd give Caffelatex a try. Man, was I ever impressed with the simplicity of this product! The process is as easy as replacing your current rim strip with the rim tape that is provided (similar to duct tape), installing the tubeless stem valve, putting tires on and injecting the sealant. From this point, I was easily able to inflate my tires (Specialized Fast Traks), even without the sealant, with a floor pump! I have little doubt this system wouldn't work with any tire/rim setup out there.I haven't had any serious punctures since switching to this product so I can't comment on how good or bad the sealant works from this regard. However, as advertised, I can definitely tell that the sealant is foaming within the tire once it begins to move or roll, which leads me to believe I won't be disappointed when the day comes that I do experience a puncture. This is really a great conversion kit, give it a whirl and see for yourself!
