Inexpensive but does what it's supposed to do
This is a cheap cheese slicer. It's not fancy. It's made out of flimsy plastic, but it indeed cuts cheese. The wire gives quite a bit when slicing. But keep in mind it's super inexpensive, but it slices cheese like it's supposed to do.update Apr 7, 2016: Well, it lasted over a year. The wire is still intact, but it's stretched like a bungy cord. Still slices soft cheese. Won't do hard cheeses. Time to replace it. I got this for about $4 a year ago from Amazon. I could just buy another one, but I'm going to go for one that (I hope) will last longer and is more durable. I'm figuring if I buy this one again and again, year after year, then that's $4 + $4 + $4 ..... etc. Adds up. With luck, a good $20 stainless steel slicer for $20 will last for several years. But still, bottom line for this cheese slicer: it slices cheese. It's cheap. But don't expect it to last longer than 1 year. And don't use it for hard cheeses.

Sturdy grip and easy to use
I use this cheese slicer a lot and on both semi-soft and hard types of cheese. It's held up with use and in the the wash. The handle is a little wider than some slicers which I think helps with gripping and hold for slicing. I recommend Good Cook Classic Cheese Slicer.

Nice
We set it up for the thickness we wanted , and it's stayed that way without issues since day one. I've been through some cheap slicers to get to this one.

TOP CHEESE
I purchased this cheese slicer 9 years ago on Amazon and it still slices and dices like new. Tremendous value. Toss it the dishwasher and it comes out looking clean and new. Nothing to rust or discolor. Buying a new one because a Dollar Tree cheese slicer previously purchased has rusted and wood handle cracking. Don’t hesitate on deciding to buy. I have never found a slab of cheese that was too big to slice.

Horrible design, don't wast your money!
Horrible design, I can't believe a cheese slicer can fail but this one sure did! We used it a couple of times and the wire, that is the "slicer" of the cheese, stretched out. Now when you try to use it the cheese doesn't slice evenly or at all! There is no way to tighten the wire so I'm stuck with a handle and bent wire that is totally worthless. I would have given this a negative star if it was an option! If you are still thinking of buying this, save your self the aggravation and just go flush your money down the toilet!

I tightened the wire on the screws and got it nice and tight
Other reviewers were exactly right about the loose wire. When it first arrived, the wire was quite loose. I tightened the wire on the screws and got it nice and tight, but the first time i sliced cheese with it, it was loose again after the about two slices (just regular, fairly soft mild cheddar, not old and hard or anything)I went through this process of re-tightening several times, and eventually tried changing the straight clockwise winding of the wire around the screws to winding around the screw, then around the wire, then back around the screw. It was around this point that the wire broke.Fortunately I make rosaries, so I had some nice strong 20ga stainless steel wire, and I replaced the original wire with this. The new wire is quite a bit thicker, but seems to cut okay (and certainly isn't going to break!)All in all, I wish I would've just gone down to wal-mart and bought a slicer there.

El alambre de cortado se aflojó rápidamente
El alambre de rebanado se aflojó muy rápidamente ... aunque sigue cortando es más difícil realizar cortes parejos y delgados

Fell apart
The wire bends because it’s not as tight as it needs to be. The post says it’s adjustable, and while I can see how they think it might be, but attempting to adjust it only makes the wire more loose. Now our wire won’t stay in place. (Yes - righty righty, lefty loosey) . If the wire were pulled through a hole in the screw this might be effective but as it stands the screw has zero pull on the wire. I’m surprised it holds it there at all.Any cheese slicer I’ve had previously was metal and not adjustable… we used them for at least 10 years. We are already looking to replace this one and it’s only been a few months.I feel that whoever made this was copying a legit design but made it in the least expensive way, and when they came across a design flaw with the plastic, they decided to call it adjustable.
