Product is more than I expected but features a square base or mounting plate. The images online show that the stem itself is the base (rectangular). So if you're looking for an ultra clean modern look this may not fit the bill. Otherwise, it's pretty modern and sturdy.In a different note: I ordered the stainless steel model and received the black stainless steel. I returned it for the ss. Interestingly, the black ss was heavier than the ss. Both are good quality but I'd give the edge to the black ss. Shame I didn't need it.
