Here's what you need to know
Here is what you need to know about this 3rd party aftermarket back button kit.If you have sufficient enough skills to watch a video, follow steps there shouldn't be an issue installing this in less than 30-40 mins. Here is the link to the instructional video with step by step process.https://youtu.be/NdH9o9mi0HUPros:-Very solid package (especially from 3rd party), the build is very nice, the sculpted paddles that follow the controller are all very nice looking and shown the developers took time and effort into making this kit.-For me the install went smoothly and no issues with anything not working as expected afterwards. Keep in mind I didn't do the soldering, so can't speak to that.-I think until an official Sony version comes out (PLEASE), this will more than suffice in the meantime.-For the price, the build, ease of install is all top notch from a 3rd party.-I had the official Sony back button attachment for PS4, and this is similar in function, but this has metal paddles instead of the plastic ones. I can't speak to this paddle attachment with the plastic back buttons version...but it seems alot of people break them in a few months... so far so good with these. They are some chinesium metal, alloy. I will update if any issues with durability on these, but 4-5 days into it so far so good.Cons-Adds significant weight to the controller. You will be surprised at how much weight this kit adds to the duelsense!-Takes some getting used to (and I'm assuming alot probably never get used to) how you now have to hold the controller vs stock. I was used to it from PS4, but those that have not used back buttons expect some adjustment time to how to hold/utilize the back buttons. You have your middle fingers sitting on clickable buttons instead of securely to the controller. Alot don't like. And I think that's about all I can think of for the time being. If you have used back buttons in the past, and if you can adjust to how you hold your controller, back buttons can be an awesome addition to a controller (especially for FPS), I'd highly recommend getting this to subdue the itch until the official Sony back button attachment comes out.

Perfect replacement to the original plastic version!
So I've had the original plaatic back buttons installed for about 5 months and since then the plastic buttons had broken twice. It was a clear design flaw. This metal kit fixes that issue completely and is absolutely worth your money. These are sturdy and have a nice tactile click to them. For new buyers, install is a breeze unless you want to remap the R3, L3, and touchpad...then it will need a little soldering. But for me I don't have any need to remap those. If you already have the plastic kit installed these fit right in place....except the metal back plate. I couldn't get it to fit over the original so I just used the original plastic one instead of reinstalling everything. Do not buy the plastic kit and absolutely purchase this one.

Works great
This kit works great. Installation was straight forward. Just follow their video step by step pausing while you work. The soldering is not too difficult. I really like the feel of the metal paddles. They feel very high quality. There is a bit of play in them before the button actually clicks but it doesn't feel abnormal. The click is firm enough that you shouldn't accidentally press the buttons. The one sort of negative to me is that I question the value of being able to remap the touch pad button. The way the touch pad works is there is a single physical button underneath and depending where on the touchpad your thumb presses determines what action the button does. So, if you press the right side of the touch pad it senses that you're touching the right side of the pad when you click in the button. This does a "right side" action. If you press the left side of the touch pad it senses you are touching the left side of the pad when you click in the button. This does a "left side" action. The issue with this style of button is that if you remap the touch pad button it doesn't do anything unless you are also touching the right or left side of the touchpad which kind of defeats the purpose of mapping it in the first place. There is no "default" click without also touching the pad. You can test this by trying to press the touchpad button using a pencil eraser or some other object instead of your thumb. It won't do anything. The soldering was very much worth it for being able to remap the L3 and R3 analog stick clicks. It is so nice being able to use normal buttons sometimes vs clicking in the sticks. I would probably skip the step of mapping the touchpad if/when I ever install another kit, though, it is not difficult to do.One thing that would be really cool would be if a future kit had 4 paddles instead of 2. The only thing would be to make sure not to create something that gets in the way of being comfortable to hold. Some kits I have tried in the past are a little bit too intrusive where you can't hold the controller comfortably because the paddles or buttons are placed almost exactly where you want to hold the controller. I like back paddles that are easy to use but when you don't want to use them they aren't in the way. The extremerate kit is pretty good in that regard. I would say it is more comfortable than the official dualshock 4 back paddles, which get in the way easily, but not quite as comfortable as the collective minds xbox one dominator mod pack that puts the paddles way into the center of the controller.

Be Careful if You Have a BDM-020 Controller (Updated)
I have installed two of these kits on a BDM-010 with no problems, this kit was my first 020. The cable lengths for 020 do not match where the ports on the board are and I could not get the L3 R3 to work. I soldered both of my 010 and everything worked perfectly. On this one neither works and my solders are good, or at least as good as I did on the other two. My guess is because Sony used a different solder for the contact points, but there is nothing I can do about that. For me this is almost a deal breaker because I like to program the left stick for sprint to a back paddle so I don't have to click the stick to run. Otherwise the metal is a big improvement over the plastic and it's more firm to press which is nice.(Update)Customer service reached out to me to work with me on this and after a few back and forth conversation and picture taking the company sent me a new set of cables, after I installed those the L3 R3 buttons worked! The metal pads feel very premium and a huge upgrade to the previous versions, I hope there will be a metal rise 4 set soon.

Works great but a slight design flaw.
The pad works just as i'd expect it to. There is no lag time between button press and action and is 'simple' enough to put together, as long as you have time and patience.Id say it took me around 45 minutes to an hour to complete the install from start to finish. I'm no expert, but i would suggest that setup is for someone with a techy mindset. My first attempt failed and thought I'd had wrote off my controller but the issue was the battery pin not being re-attached correctly. If you get orange lights flashing, this will be your reason. It looks and feels great, but the biggest issue i have with it is that the button on the back is loose. it will never fall out but it rattles and is always going to rattle as there is no way of firmly putting the button in place. This is the button you hold down when syncing.Overall I'm happy. But would i pay the money again for another controller? depends how badly i need it. i actually don't use it as much as i thought i would but if it was maybe £10 less expensive, it could sway me to buy another for a second controller. The fact its metal and not plastic is a huge win. it will not break, therefore already a no brainer compared to the first version.

Loving the metal buttons!
Install took a lot longer thanks to me missing something that wasn't optional. I did not solder anything. The case itself is noticeably thinner than the Dualsense. If I had come straight from the PS4 controller I wouldn't have noticed, but after gaming for an hour or so, I noticed that it feels slimmer and so your hand grips it differently. Not sure if grip pads would help. The buttons themselves are very nice and clicky. Good weight to them. They do feel a little loose, but when you push them up to the clicking point, it's very tactile. So there's a tiny bit of movement before you're clicking them.Definitely recommended!Update: after a few months of usage, still loving these. Whenever I use my normal Dualsense I do miss that being a bit thicker and the texture on the back is better than this smooth surface. That would be my only improvement, add a bit of thickness and texture to the back.

More Control!
I just want to preface this review by saying I am a complete layman when it comes to taking things apart and putting it back together. Also, I have only did it in the last day so I will update this review a few months down the line once I get sufficient time with it. But my first impressions are: It’s absolutely awesome kit. In fact, it helped me get to the next boss in Returnal!I wanted to do a few mods to the controller as I had seen a friend of mine has done something similar using ExtremeRate suite of controller parts. My modifications were going to be simple, with a midnight back DS5, I will add the LEDs and back paddles.I found the install pretty straight forward, however since I was doing two mods at the same time, I had to switch between two different tutorials. I would recommend to ExtremeRate to make a tutorial covering both at the same time as I can imagine these are the most common modifications.Just on the tutorials, they are excellent. I did have to put the music on mute but it is very detailed and slow. I would recommend getting a set of tweezers. I used metal, but ceramic would probably be better for a less chance of ruining the components. The wire strips that you pull out can be quite stiff so you’ll have to be patient and wiggle it out.I found the install also quite forgiving as there were numerous times I thought I screwed it up but the components (wires and such) are very robust so it all seem to work fine.As you can see (maybe, and based on the page this review is on) I got the metal variant which is new. I actually bought the plastic version a few days earlier, but hadn’t opened it. I didn’t even know the metal was coming out. I was able to return it for a very quick refund via gift card and purchase the metal.Obviously I have had no experience with the plastic paddles, but I heard they broke quite a bit. I do not suspect I will have this problem with the metal as it is metal, it will likely bend first, but there no way you are applying that much pressure.I love the “clickines” of the paddles, and changing the buttons they are assigned is super easy. Due to the fact that they are metal, they are a little weighty, but it makes the controller feel better. I like the weight to the controller. On my controller I have the PlayVital silicone sleeve which also adds a bit of weight. If you intend to get that too, you will have to cut out some of the back to accommodate the paddles. Please do a better job than I did.Sorry for the waffling, I am writing as I think about it, here is a semi brief summary:The Good:- Easy-ish install: Great very good tutorials from ExtremeRate and documentation within the pack.- Robust components: the metal paddles, metal enclosure, plastic shell, wires, all of it is top quality.- Nicely packaged component: Nothing in the box got damaged as it was tightly packaged in foam or in anti-static sleeves.- Tools: It comes with a mini screwdriver and blue plastic thing to help pull apart the controller. Which is all I need… I lie. I needed a soldering iron. I forgot to mention that I wanted the option to Map the L3R3 buttons, so you need to do a tiny bit of soldering. But it really is a tiny bit. It was pretty easy. I didn’t bother with the touch pad.- Use in game: I heard that the plastic version was overly sensitive. They have obviously revised it in this version because they had the perfect sensitivity for time I have used it. I never got any accidental clicks and when I needed to press it, the command came out reliably.- Changing the button for the paddle: As I said before, this is very easy. I know there is face button command you can do but I have opted to use the button on the back. They say press it for 3 seconds, but it more like 5 seconds. Not a biggie though.- The badass look to them: I know this isn’t a massive thing, or maybe it is (IDK). But it actually looks awesome. The ExtremeRate suit really works well together if you have the vision of a good looking controller. The Bad (Okay, I am scraping the barrel here but there are two things that I might have an issue with.- There should be a tutorial for installing both LEDs and back paddles. I reckon I would have finished the install a lot sooner had I not have to jump back and forth between two tutorials.- The back metal lid for paddle doesn’t have the click it should do when you put it on. I was putting more force into closing it than I should have since I didn’t know it was actually locked in place. I might have broken it if I hadn’t kept checking it was closed. All in all, I would highly recommend this. 5 stars!!

Well worth it if you play FPS games
Bought to improve cod warfare movement. Product is good quality. Fairly difficult to fit but the explanation is pretty good and everything you need is supplied in the box including screwdriver etc. I was a bit nervous at times whether the controller would still work when I put it back together but it was fine. The finished look is great quality. Tiny bit of rattle in the paddles but otherwise feels and looks great. Definitely happy with it. One note is that your controller won’t fit the Sony dual charger stand with this fitted. I adapted mine with a saw but this was tricky and not ideal.

Received a previously opened and used product, sold as new. Not happy.
Package had clearly been used and returned by someone else. All plastic bags were open - tiny screws and other metal pieces all loose in the box. Several missing. Adhesive tape on electronic components peeled off.Clearly an install had been attempted by someone else who didn't have the skill to complete the soldering and they had simply put the bits back in the box and returned it.If returned, this should have been quality checked by someone at Amazon to see if it had been used before reselling. If that had been the case, the QA test should have failed.VERY DISSAPOINTED.
