consew Industrial Sewing Machine Servo Motor with Needle Position and Synchronizer

Industrial sewing machines are amazing, but 10,000 stitches per minute (yes, you read that right) was much more than I could handle. At a fraction of the size of a clutch-style motor It is better balanced, quieter and more easily controlled.On my industrial serger torque isn't a concern, but speed is. However, on my walking foot booth are concerns. At all speeds, but especially low speeds, the torque is vastly improved. I can punch thru nearly anything that I can fit under the foot.The best upgrade I've made for perhaps anything I've ever owned. That is saying a lot, I'm an old guy who has been upgrading stuff since adding RAM to my Atari 400 in the 80's.

The installation was pretty straightforward. It came with extra flat washers to space appropriately for belt alignment. The control coming from a clutch motor is night-and-day different! I’m running a Mercury M-337 (Consew 205RB clone) and while I don’t have a lot of time on it yet, I just ran 5 test panels (V138 bonded poly) of Spralding 29oz marine vinyl without even getting into the treadle. That was on the included 75mm pulley but I’ll probably odrer the 45mm and ramp up my max RPM. All in all, the control is way better than a clutch motor and it looks like it’ll be able to handle whatever I can deal it’s way as far as marine vinyl goes. Keep in mind- the receptacle on the back of the controller module is only a two-prong female. I went ahead and mounted a galvanized 4-plex box to the underside of the table so I could employ external work lighting. Instructions suck so you may need to become a thinking person, but there are a few thorough youtube videos. Other than that- it’s a great setup so far and definitely worth the asking price.

This motor is pretty intuitive to replace if you have any mechanical skills and very basic tools. It’s pretty much a bolt on replacement, with some alignment finesse needed.The pedal connecting rod provided is way too short. I ended up buying some rod and rod ends to fabricate a longer one. Unless your table is built for a toddler, you’ll want to build or order one. My table is pretty much standard and required about 22” in length to connect the pedal to the motor actuator lever.I was disappointed with the motor controller instructions, which were sparse at best. There are several settings that aren’t explained at all. I played with them and my machine wouldn’t stop untill i hit the power switch. That said, there is enough information to help you adjust the max speed, direction of rotation, and needle position. I just wish they would explain the other settings because I suspect there is some great functionality that I’m missing out on.All things considered, I’m happy with the purchase for the price. Great value if it has a significant longevity.

I use my machine for a few hours each week and this machine has held up well. It's amazingly quiet compared to the clutch motor it replaced. I was able to get this to run slow enough to sew single stitches.

The motor works as I suspected; the needle position sensor has an adapter and the shiny screws that are in the picture. The black screw is from my Consew RB-3, so they don't thread into the adapter (not pictured.) When I messaged the seller and I get this reply "Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, there is not another adapter for this model." Well, OK, maybe that should have been one of the tidbits of information on the listing. They suggested I could return the item, but I don't want to return the motor, but the needle sensor is an add-on item to the motor. I'm going to get a different bolt OR rethread their shiny screw.

This motor is very cheap compared to other servo motors, is extremely quiet and produces a lot of torque at low speeds, but....1. With the controller set to the lowest speed range, the slowest the motor can be made to run is 200rpm.2. No matter how finely the speed control lever arm is moved, the motor rpms only change in 100rpm increments.3. There are no instructions for setting up the synchronizer.
