The Coil is DOUBLE D design which makes it work better than other normal metal detector in water, but please kindly know that all metal detectors' box is not waterproof, this means that the metal detector is waterproof except the box, the stem is adjustable from 41" to 52" so it has enough length to work in water environment even in deep water.
