Nobody makes a better pair of heavy lineman's pliers. Go for the made in USA stuff. The quality is always consistent. A lot of complaints in the comments that the jaws have a gap. That is a feature not a bug. Anyone who has done electrical work will "get" it. I think a lot of the complainers are electronics guys (lower case "e") who were expecting some thing like what wiha or knipex sells. Those are great brands too. I own knipex and wiha stuff too, but these pliers are for Electrical (uppercase "E") work, not so much for "electronics" (lower case "e"). These really are optimized for working with building sized wiring, not the micro stuff that electronics (little "e") guys dabble in. To use pliers this size for little-e electronics is a misapplication and will feel like masochism. Using a "little-e" pair of pliers to do building size wiring is equally masochistic folly. This is a great pair of pliers and a proven timeless classic, excellent and perfectly suited for "big E" scale. If you need an electronics sized pair, you'de best look at something else. Klein also makes smaller pairs than this. Know the scale you work at and pick tools accordingly. For the scale of work these are made for, they are superb and have no equal. A classic of elegance, simplicity, functionality, great ergonomics and value.

As an electrician for 26 years, I’ve used several other brands of lineman’s pliers over the years and I always go back to Klein 2000. There are several options for grips in this case I chose the thousand volt grips which are a little pricey, but safety is always worth the price.

I am an avid do it yourselfers, so after needing a new pair of pliers for my jobs, I have used Klein tools before & never had a doubt when buying these. The handles are very well insulated creating great comfort the cutting edge is super sharp & have self securing jaws

The best pliers I have ever seen. Not B stock like Knipex often is. They come perfectly packed in a blister and vacuum sealed. Very precisely made. Not for everyone, they are huge and heavy. But who needs lineman pliers like that, forget about Knipex, this is the space shuttle according to them. I will buy another one, before they move the entire production to Mexico or Brazil. Thanks to Amazon for the fast delivery of a product that is impossible to find in European stores.

このモデルに限らずですが、クラインのペンチは、クライン独自の"ショックレス"なスタビライザー性能をもつグリップが大好きで愛用しています。VVF2.0mm3Cなんかを切る時でも、クニペックスやフジ矢みたいに、バツン！と勢いよく断ち切れる感じではなく、ムニュッ…と優しく静かに切れてくれます。薄刃ニッパーのように刃の鋭さ頼みで切っているわけではなく、あくまでも素材や刃付の角度やスタビライザーグリップなどの全体的なバランスによってこの低振動を実現しているのがポイントで、手のひらや手首への負担が非常に少ないんですよね。いかにもドイツっぽい個性をもつクニペックスなんかも個人的には好きですが、目に見える数値だけにとらわれたスペック至上主義ではなく、『味』や『耐久性』の部分に拘るアメリカンなクラフツマンシップがクラインならではの魅力でしょう。ところが！ですよ……そんなこんなでこれまで私が大好きだったクラインですが、今回に限っては大きく大きく期待を裏切られてしまったため、個人的な備忘録も兼ねてこうしてレビューを残すことにしたわけです。今回Amazonで購入した"Linemans"ペンチは、単なる『ハズレ個体』として扱うことすら憚られるレベルの酷い成形不良で、こんなモノが検品をクリアしてしまう今のクラインって大丈夫？……と少なからぬ不安を覚えてしまいました。掲載した画像を見ていただければ一目瞭然ですが、まずは咥えの上下が完全にズレて0.8mmほどの段差になってしまっていますよね。そのため、このモデルならではの特長でもある、ハンマーのようにして使うためのペンチ先端の『凹みエリア』にも段差があって平らではないため、釘頭をうまく叩くことができない状態。鋭敏な感覚を持つ人であれば、目を瞑った状態でグリップを数回開閉した時点で少し通常とは異なる斜めな挙動に違和感を感じるレベルで、しかもそれが単にカシメ部分のガタが大きいせいで発生しているのではなく(つまり組み上げ段階のミスではない)、完全な成形不良によるものである点が個人的に引っかかったんですよね。さらに、同じ画像に写っているペンチ先端のサイド部分の成形にもご注目。ちゃんとしたフツーのクラインペンチを見たことがある方ならすぐ気付けるとは思いますが、本来は綺麗なV字になっているべき切れ込みのところが大きく波打つように歪んで非対称になってしまっています。(反対側の写真は撮り忘れてしまいましたが、こちら側とはまた違った形状の歪みになっていました)これらの点を合わせて推察するに、恐らくは製造ラインの序盤で成形に失敗したモノを無理やりその先の工程に進め、製品としての一応の体裁だけは整えて出荷してしまったことにより、こうした『クラインにあらざるべき粗悪品』が私のような一般顧客の手に渡ってしまったのではないかと。今時、某国製のペンチでもここまで酷い品質のモノは中々お目にかかれませんし、本当にビックリです。クラインはブリスターパッケージなので返品は難しいかな……と思いましたが、Amazonに画像を添えて返品手続き前に相談したところ、返品には応じていただけました。他の販売店ならもっと面倒なことになっていた可能性もあるので、一応は良かったと思うべきなのでしょうが、時間と労力を無駄に消費することになってしまいました。というわけで結論です。私のようなクライン好きな人間でも、たったひとつのこうした問題で気持ちが揺らぐことになるわけですから、クラインにはもう一度キチンと襟を正して品質管理を徹底していただきたいものです。まぁ個人的にはクニペックスなんかも最近は品質がかなり怪しいんじゃないかと思っていますが、クラインも長年の歴史に胡座をかいているだけでは、コツコツ積み上げた信用なんて簡単に失われてしまいかねませんからね。クラインが大好きだからこそ、今回はこうして叱咤激励の声を上げ、敢えて『星2』という厳しい評価にさせていただきました。今後の改善を強く希望します。
