This is the first sharpening stone set I've bought - I'd always gone for the diamond grit plates.I like the bamboo base that the stones can be set in, as it really helps with stability, which was always an issue with the diamond plates I had. I used these with a Wusthof chef knife that I'd torn the blade up on. Started at the lowest grit, and worked my way through the highest. It took a while, but the low grit removed the damaged material, and refined it as I worked up through the stones. Ended up with a nicely working knife again, which was worth more than I paid for the stone set.I haven't used the angle guide for chisel/plane blade sharpening, so I can't review those, but I hope to get to it soon. I have a whole bevy of kitchen and pocket knives that I'm looking forward to getting sharp with this set.It did come with a foldout set of instructions, which was good to have. Also a flattening stone to condition keep the sharpening stones flat and in good shape. I don't figure I'll need to use that for a while.Great set of stones, and proved to be worth more than I paid for it within a few hours.

These pretty good. I just sharpened 4 knives and it did a decent job.

Gave this to my brother. We do a lot of cooking. I already owned a good set. We also process large game and farm animals. We both have really nice tools for this. Knives, Cleavers, Saws, and specialty tools, scrapers and ulu type stuff. But as a rule nobody puts our tools to a stone except us and I don't touch his to a stone and he don't touch mine. He loves them as I knew he would. Real quality product. He has had some old stones that were concaved from use. So I bought his frugal butt these. His stones were wore out. Now he's got the edge. No pun intended. These are great water stones.

Likes- Really good setup for the stones.Dislikes- Instructions ... what instructions? None came in my kit so for me not a problem as I've been doing this for years but a newbe will be up a creek.

I have issues with keeping the correct angle of blade, the use of angle guide that comes in this package really helps.
