Really great mapping book!
We originally checked out Mapping Penny's World from our local library as part of our homeschool studies. My kids and I loved it so much that we bought it for our home library. This book does a really great job of explaining maps in a fun way. They map things like where Penny has buried bones or shoes, how to get to a neighbors house, the girls bedroom, etc. Keys, scale, legends, etc are explained. There is also a part where a map is made from clay. My kids (4 and 6) both sat down with their clay and this book and worked on their own clay maps for hours. They've taken ideas from this book and mapped our backyard and where our dog has her toys, where their toys are etc. This book has provided hours of fun mapping work for my kids. I love when a book catches their interest so much that it carries over into their "play". This book is a great one!

Used every year in my classroom!
Fantastic for use with my second graders!! We love using this during our map unit and creating our own maps. The pictures are fantastic, the wording is great, and the content is easily aligned with standards. My kiddos love this book year after year and the Measuring Penny book, as well! Highly recommended for classroom and personal children libraries :)

Very Good but a little unexpected
Was as described but I wish the description would have included the fact that it was a library book. Then I would have known what kind of markings were going to be in it. I would have still wanted it, but just been prepared

More than I could ask for!!!
This is one of the best books to teach mapping skills and knowledge. I have found it extremely successful and easy to follow from grades 1 through 4. It would be an excellent book to teach your own children at home or to use as a review if your children are learning mapping skills at school.

Follow the map
Bought in response to my daughter's curriculum needs and how useful it is in making them aware of the perspective of things around them Yes it is from the US but the principles remain the same. Excellent book, highly recommended

Mapping penny's "American" world
The book would be great..,,but with all the American references it makes it difficult to adapt to a Canadian curriculum. I was disappointed with that. I probably wouldn't have bought it had I had the chance to preview it for content
