Unexpected and fantastic
When I picked this audiobook to listen to, I thought I knew what to expect… what I got was so much more. The story was unexpectedly extra spicy. Both narrators were new to me and absolutely great – giving heart, emotion, and complimentary voices to each of their characters in the dual narration format. I loved the way Mila portrayed the mafia. Her characters are so very gray and I really fell in love with Guilio and Francesca as they became friends.Francesca is given away in marriage and finds herself in Italy in the hands of a ruthless and powerful mafioso. Her only solace is her fiance, a man who is kind but uninterested in her as a bride. Fausto finds himself secretly admiring the spunky newcomer. Francesca shouldn’t want Fausto, but his darkness and demands call to her. They are helpless to resist each other, but when Fausto thinks he can control her, things quickly take a dramatic turn. This story is action packed on many fronts and the ending was completely unexpected. I can’t wait to jump right into Mafia Darling. Both Fausto and Francesca (and also Guilio who gets his story later in the series) were fantastic characters. Fausto lives up to his name as il Diavolo in the end after Mila lures readers into a false sense of security with him. He was so sweet to Francesca as their relationship grew but man, he was ruthless at the end. Thankfully, I’m going to continue their story straight away.

Favorite book I've read this year
“Too late, piccola monella. You’re mine now.”Mafia Mistress tells the story of 18-year-old Mafia Princess Francessa who is taken in the middle of the night to repay her father's debt to another family in Italy. She is now destined to become the wife of one of the most powerful families' sons. But she can’t deny her complete lack of interest in him and her overwhelming interest in the one man she should not be looking at, his father, Fausto. When Fausto decides he wants to take Francessa as his mistress, he reduces to taking no for an answer. A mafia mistress can still play a powerful role in Italy, but it is far from a safe life for Francessa to be living. But is anyone safe when living with one of the most powerful and bloodthirst Dons in the world?Mafia Mistress was my introduction to the mafia world through reading and I was obsessed. I devoured this book in half a day and genuinely could not put it down. The story was so magnificently crafted and the characters were beautifully complex. I found I was rooting for everyone in the main family and hated everyone else. I have never had such strong reactions to characters before!Mila Finelli deserves so much recognition for how well she broke down such a complicated world. I never felt lost or overwhelmed despite it being a new subgenre to me.The chemistry between characters builds incredibly well and never felt rushed, when they finally get together, I was literally holding my breath during the build-up. The spicy scenes were absolutely filthy and delicious, I was fanning myself multiple times while reading. The Dom/Sub interactions felt very natural which is not always the case with this trope! Despite how amazing the scenes and the build-up are, Mila Finelli does not allow them to take away from the plot. The plot stays center despite it being a wonderfully spicy story! This has been my favorite book of the year so far.5/5 for the plot4/5 for the spice

GREAT MAFIA ROMANCE & I LOVE THE CLIFFHANGER
This book & Audible was recommended by an Audible Customer Service Rep & she nailed it. I love great twisted dark takes, but some are too long with their Duets, but Mizz Mila spins a pothole & bumpy romance for us all. This may be a 2 book tale, but she made me crave each page. Mizz Mila also touched on apparently taboo in the Mafia, homosexuality. I personally think any kind of judgement (aka hatred) is soooo wrong because everyone has a secret they keep close due to shame. Mizz Mila gets my top score of 5 fingers up & 10 toes for this intense tale of darkness, forbidden love & she even uses a cliffhanger that doesn't make me ANGER!!

Meh
Another book that book tok recommend like a good one but is really bad the end.How do I start? I hate surprise pregnancy trope, the miscommunication one. And everything was good, the spicy is good, the dirty talk was very cool. But with the other ones I am very upset, because I spected by allot of this book, but it was meh at the end.

Brilliant
Wow! This book is incredible. It is definitely my favourite book of 2023 so far.Fausto is just the perfect mafia book boyfriend. He is dominant, aggressive and then that softer side for Frankie.Frankie is set to go to college, but her dad has other ideas. He decides to marry her off to Fausto son, G.Frankie doesn’t want to marry someone in the mafia, so instead of her going willingly, Fausto drugs her and takes her to Italy from Toronto.Frankie looks for ways to escape Fausto, but it isn’t working. She’s also feeling more of an attraction to Fausto.Fausto is the head of the Siderno mafia, his son is due to inherit everything as his only heir. He is preparing him for it all and wants to marry him off to have children who will then go on and become part of the mafia. The character depth of this book is brilliant as well as the world building. I just really didn’t want to stop reading. I’m so glad there is a book two.
