Roots indeed!!
Thicker gel than my usual Wilsonโs gel and so far excellent results. Little more costly than Wilsonโs but seems to be worth the extra bit

**UPDATED** Like Mom Nature In A Jar
Originally Titled: What Happened To The Clean, Clear, Thick, Orange Gel That Worked? I felt more like a real gardener when I could start new plants from cuttings using Rootech Gel. At our old home it's the way I cheaply expanded the landscaping and grew plants for gift giving. That was years ago. In our new place, we made plans to put in low maintenance beds to replace grassy areas with ground cover and flowering bushes. Five weeks ago, in prep of growing our own plants from cuttings instead of buying them, I ordered this Technaflora TFRTG56G 56-Gram Technaflora Rootech Gel for Plants. Friday I prepared a little cloning environment, a domed tray filled with plugs that were soaked and ready to receive cuttings, and let it sit on a heating pad on the lowest setting for a day to make a miniature jungle. Sunday afternoon I took my cuttings from the selected plants and trimmed up the stems, leaves, etc for rooting. When I opened my Rootech Gel for the first time I immediately saw it is completely different from what I used to use (approx 2001-09). Instead of clean, clear, bright, thick, orange gel, this stuff is watery, more brown than orange, and has flecks of different size matter floating in it. The whole appeal of the stuff when I used it was its ability to glob on to the stem and hold while being inserted into the medium; that doesn't happen now, it just pours off with no hold. Plus, it smells, well, off, organic I guess, but like poo, not clean. This morning, all my cuttings are limp and bent over, obviously not taking root, but dead. No idea why a proven winner would change formulas, but I won't buy this new, NOT improved stuff again. ***UPDATED*** At the nursery, in the check out, I spot that the guy in front of me is holding a jar of Technaflora Rootech Gel. I asked, have you used that stuff before? He "swears by it" he tells me. I tell him what happened with my last jar. Right there in line, he pops off the lid and we look in to see Clean, Clear, Thick, Orange Gel! Right away I go to get a jar, but it's 30% more than I paid on Amazon, so I put it back and ordered another when I got home. The original jar, the poo jar? Long gone. Plus, I'm outside of the return window anyway. I'm eating the cost and know for next time, IMMEDIATELY initiate a return if it isn't Clean, Clear, Thick, Orange Gel. The new jar? Used it a week ago today on a dozen cuttings (same plant). This morning, 10 of 12 are showing roots. Like Mom Nature in a jar.
