I needed a relatively cheap player to play some region B and C Blu-ray discs and, having had an LG Blu-ray player in the past that feels very cheap yet somehow has outlasted my Samsung and Toshiba players, I decided to order this one.Surprisingly, the player is heavier and feels more durable than my other LG, which was nice. It's not an eye-catcher, but it's a Blu-ray player, so it doesn't need to be flashy. Inside the box were printed instructions on how to switch back and forth between regions. You just open the disc tray, place the disc on it, and press the correct region button. The disc tray closes, and wham--you're watching your disc. I have switched back and forth between all regions multiple times with zero issues and the player remains on the previously selected region until you switch it again, which means you don't have to enter the region code every single time you play a disc as long as they're all coded the same.The remote is small, but personally I prefer them this way. Between my TV, cable box, sound system, PS4 remote, and a Blu-ray player, I don't need big monstrosities splayed all over my couch.The service from the seller was fast and hassle-free.Now I am enjoyed Blu-rays from all over the world free from restrictions. Couldn't ask for more.

I based my purchase on the ad above on Amazon. There was no obvious damage when I received it. I tested it on the BluRay and DVDs I had available (from US) and they all worked fine.I also ordered two BluRay movies and two TV series, all from UK. One of the TV series had non-BluRay disks. They worked fine. The other tv series has 23 disks also non-BluRay. They all work fine. The two movie BluRay disks would not play - “Unfortunately the disk will not play due to region code setting of the player.”I tried resetting the settings, downloading update (which it did not need since the current was the newest). I unplugged the machine, hooked up to different TV, different HDMI cord and ports.I contacted LG customer service. After I told the girl my problem, she said that the LG BluRay players will not work on any disk that is not region 1. I explained that I had played disks from US and UK without any problem (over 30 disks, BluRay and regular) but with the two movie disks, I kept getting the region code problem.I also stressed that it was supposed to be ‘region free’. She repeated that they only play region 1 disks. I asked her what region was the US. She said that it is region 1. I asked that meant it would not play UK disks? She said that was correct. I told her that I had 25 disks from the UK that work great with the player and they would not play on my US BluRay player. She repeated again that it works only on region 1. That is obviously a sign of incompetence.I wanted to ask her if it was possible to change the regions on the player (a seemingly reasonable request). Again the repeat. I asked to speak to someone else. She would not transfer me to anyone only that I would have to call back later.I have two LG disk players and two large screen TVs, all of which work fine and I am happy with them. However I am now reconsidering any future LG purchases.I will try contacting LG corporate (if I can find a way to do that) and try to get to someone that can understand the problem and give me a solution.So far – ZERO stars and definitely DO NOT recommend this player.

Since I have an LG TV, this disc player is very convenient. The units communicate through the HDMI connection - if both are OFF, turning ON disc player or loading a disc will also turn ON the TV and switch it to HDMI input. When TV is turned OFF, player will also turn OFF (even if TV has been switched to antenna input.) The remote for TV can also do some disc-player functions.DVD - tested player with a DVD coded for Regions 2+4 PAL UK. It played automatically, with no setup needed - the disc player converted the European PAL video format to US NTSC. EZ-PZ. It is assumed that all DVD regions will work.BLURAY - works OK with US zone A blurays - did not test with B or C (have none.) Disc player came with instruction page for switching to the Bluray zones B or C. This is not automatic, but can be done with the remote when needed. Save or scan this instruction page, as you will not find it on the LG customer support website ( the multi-region, multi-zone modification is after-market.)

Super late review!Bought this DVD player back in 2019 because I needed a player that could play my movies and concert DVD collections from different regions. Works well out of the box, with easy to follow instructions on how to play DVD, set regions, set to Blu-Ray, etc. Video playback quality is normal and just as expected depending on your DVD's baseline quality.Still using this DVD player in 2022 and it still works well.Overall, would recommend! Hope this review helps :)

I live in Jamaica so we use the NTSC system (USA) and so it follows we use Region 1 DVD and region A BluRay.I bought this after my BOSE player 1,2,3 gave out, I also had a LG BD player and was happy, but being a former brit, I had some DVD's that are region 2, I wanted to watch......... So I gave away the faulty BOSE and the BluRay and bought this unit.As advertised it works perfectly, DVD's are played instantly without having to change anything and so do Blurays I have only used Region A, I must confess I had sat back to watch "Terminator 2" and it would not play, I did the procedure for changing and no go? mmmmm? I was fortunate enough to have an older copy BluRay and it played fine............ I figured it out- It will NOT play Ultra HD 4K Blurays but tht is fine as I do not have any apart from this one I got as a gift.So all-in all very happy

Very easy to set up and I bring it to friends’ house to watch Blu-Ray disks. However, it does not work on a few Region 2 disks.

The product is worth the money spent, blu ray movies of any region - A /B / C does work, was able to watch all the new movies I bought from Amazon except 1 , the device does not read ultra HD movies.

Para empezar pedí el modelo BP165 y me llego el BP175.El aparato que llego no lee mis discos DVD de región 4En mi caso no me sirve y lo estoy devolviendo.
