This review is long overdue. I first read Ann Spangler's book, Praying the Names of God, several years ago. Then my husband and I studied through it together. Not only did it feed my passion to know more about the names and attributes of our precious and powerful God, It increased my appetite for God's Word even more. It is such a powerful and helpful guide, from giving us reflections and background biblical information about God's names, to helping us pray and praise Him through His names. Each day encourages us to strengthen our relationship and intimacy with God through confession and questions as we study and pray. I also enjoyed her story and anecdotal applications that personalized God's names and character even more. I've read several of Ann's books since, and they are all jewels. I love all of them and highly recommend them.

Using this Names of God as a study and prayer devotional has been the greatest tool for gaining intimacy with God. I have purchased several copies over the years for other women new to a relationship with Abba. It provides 7 days of teaching for each name, fully referenced scriptures, and a prayer. Anointed and powerful.

I'm using this now as a devotional and really liking it. Each chapter (there are 26) studies a name God uses to reveal himself. Monday's selection discusses where the name is found in the Bible. The selections will be quite familiar but the emphasis is on the relationship of God with the person involved. Tuesday through Friday's readings further explore that relationship with the Bible character and expand into applying it to your own relationship with God. The readings are not long nor difficult. The applications are to everyday life. You will certainly come out with a mind-boggling expansion of who this God is that you are praying to. An added thought: Did you ever go to a friend's funeral and find out all sorts of things about them that you never knew and wish you had known them better? Well, we can go through the Bible many times, and still not be fully aware of how awesome God is. A less familiar approach lets us see things from a different perspective, making things we know intellectually real in our lives.

This book is easy to use and understand. It is well arranged with great little features like a one page pronunciation guide after the book contents. There are 26 names with each assigned a day of the week so you can go through each name day by day and then repeat if desired. Each name has few pages dedicated to it and each of these sections is a bit different. One may center on a personal reflection or start with a quotation from a psalm or might be straight forward paragraph on the history or meaning of the name. There are places in the Bible where the attribute of the name may be found and reflected upon. I enjoyed this book so much I ordered Ann Spangler's book on the names of Jesus.

Our church ladies group did this together and met on Saturday mornings to discuss the chapters we read. Also we did a daily group text. It was so awesome. Loved this book!

This is an amazing book describing some of the names of God as found in the Old Testament of the Bible. For each name, there is a week's worth of reading hat delves more deeply into the name and helps relate it to this present generation. A terrific book and marvelous value. We keep giving copies away to many acquaintances.

I love this book. Have had a soft cover copy for several years now and decided to get it in hard cover, hoping for better quality paper, no such luck. Content however, has given me a deeper connection to our LORD, when reading the bible. Each name reveals something of who our God is, and has given me a deeper love and understanding of Him and His written Word.

I like the fact that the book uses the Name of God associated with particular circumstances to break down scriptures and help me meditate on them. There are many aspects of our God - the Healer, the Provider, the Creator for example. The book helps me to pray the various Names of God appropriately, and count on Him to manifest accordingly. It's a great book!

Wonderful book for daily devotional reading. The speaker at a Women's retreat recommended it and I ordered it from Amazon.
