My cup review for Tampax heavy flow cup
When I choose a cup I usually never go by whether or not I have or have not had children. I usually have to go by my amount of flow. Im a heavy bleeder, so I ordered the large cup. If your not, I would definitely advise on purchasing the small cup. I do own and use smaller cups from Lunette, Lena, and Super Jennie for my lighter flow days towards the end of my period because I’m not bleeding as much, and dont need quite as much capacity. So I think it’s good to have both if you can, since having a huge cup isn’t always as comfortable around the last few days of your period. If you have a small amount of blood flow, but don’t want to deal with changing a small cup more during your day, get a larger cup.. you’ll have more space for fluid to fill, so you can actually empty it out every 12 hours. My cervix is normally Med high, but much lower at the beginning of my period. So for me, it usually always rests inside my cups, and takes up the space inside the cup, making less room for fluid...So if you have a heavier flow, medium high cervix and buy a cup that’s too small, you’ll constantly be emptying it and will most likely leak around it because it’s filling up faster with less room than if you got a heavier cup and have more space for fluid. Just something to consider when buying. The rim of this cup is extremely wide and hard. So while it was not difficult or extremely painful for me to insert, or get to open up once it was inside, the removal was almost difficult and painful enough to make me consider not even trying to re-insert after the first time I emptied it. I had a VERY difficult time breaking the suction, and when I finally did, it hurt coming out. Every time. And I also noticed my cramping increased even more than I normally have. I always use water-based lube with my cups for insertion (just a pea sized amount on the rim) because it’s easier, and makes sense to me, especially if you need a larger cup. It can be a total game changer.CUPS AND IUDS (you can skip this super long paragraph if your not interested)This cup has a lot of suction...more than any other cup I’ve tried..there seems to be so many questions abt cup use and iuds, and expulsion and dislodging, and no definitive advice... My advice: you can have an iud and use a cup VERY successfully. But also be very careful!! If you have an iud, get the strings cut short! (Just keep in mind that sometimes a shorter string can poke your partner). I DO have an iud (paragard) and I actually DID dislodge my first one in the past using a different cup because my strings were too long (and they had actually already been shortened when I had it placed). So either super short strings or you definitely take the risk of expulsion or a dislodge. Also if you’ve just had an iud put in, I say a good rule of thumb is to wait at least 1 month AFTER getting an iud in order to give It a chance to settle a bit and that you don’t expel it without a cup. Now before you think, “Oh, I won’t do that with my iud, or be the individual who does that” I was that woman y’all! 🤣 I did everything right for a year before it happened to me! So don’t be like me and think that just because it hasn’t happened to you yet, that it won’t. What you have to be careful of is when you take the cup out, you have to sort of pinch it in and break the seal or suction. Whenever I pinched to break the suction, I also grabbed the strings of my iud, which were sitting inside my cup, and when I pinched to break suction I also pinched the strings of my iud..I pulled the cup out and felt a sharp pinch inside 😕 the iud didn’t come all the way out, but I dislodged it and knew something was really wrong when I did it.. after that I had horrible cramping and had to go have it removed, and have another inserted. When I got the new iud (same brand) inserted I had my dr cut the strings so short that I can just barely feel the tiniest bit of them poking out when I do my monthly string check.Things to keep in mind about this cup: Because the rim is so wide and hard I went with the punch down fold but sometimes it was such a sturdy cup, that it popped out of place and I had to start all over again with my fold.. I’m not too picky about folds, I just chose one Im most comfortable with, and if it works I’m happy. so if you have questions about folds, look it up on YouTube.Since it has a larger rim than most cups, it could be uncomfortable to insert without lube, or very difficult for a first timer. (Both insertion and removal are tricky to say it nicely). Once it’s inside I don’t feel it. I always leave the stick at the bottom of the cup attached the first time I insert a new cup just to see how it feels and with this cup I did end up cutting the stick off 2 rings down and that did the trick. If your new to cups, leave the stick attached at least until you get more practiced removing the cup. And remember it can’t get lost..so if your having difficulty removing it, take a break from trying for a while and when you feel ready come back to it, take a few deep breathes, relax, and remember sit on the toilet and bare down (push)..pinch the cup in till you hear or feel the suction breaking inside, and then gently pull it out.The thicker, more substantial grip rings are a great add for this cup, since there is so much suction. I am able to get about 2-3 hours with this cup before I have to empty it, so much better than with a tampon and string and just.. yuk.. with my large super Jennie I get around the same amount of time before I have to empty it.I took a star off because there’s a lot of unnecessary packaging. And then another star off due to the facts that this cup is so very difficult to remove, and caused more cramping pain than I’ve ever had with a cup, and I honestly couldn’t tell a big difference in the cup pushing on my bladder any less than with any of my other cups. It still pushed on my bladder and made me feel as if I had to pee continually...then when I went to pee, it seemed to take forever..no bueno..I got a pack of liners and a carrying case with mine and I like them. I always ALWAYS use a liner with my cups.. so they are useful. I noticed some of reviewers got wipes.. I don’t really use heavily scented wipes in general, and certainly not for a cup! I think for first timers getting wipes that are not specified as to whether you can use them to clean the actual cup could be confusing. If I was a newbie to cups, I would use the wipes on the cup and that could cause issues...so I would suggest they just stick with liners or maybe a nice-sized cup wash.. my cup smells a little like plastic, even after I cleaned it, so that would also be something to think about. None of my other cups smell or smelled like that? The carry case hinge and how you get it open could definitely be improved on.. they are flimsy...and when I opened it the first time I was pulling the top and it popped open and the cup went flying across my bathroom...not so good if you are in a public restroom and your cup goes flying.. I think if I had both cups (I only bought one) in one case, it feels too small like the little hinge feels and looks like it may break apart. This cup won’t be one I intend on coming back to continually. I would MAYBE consider adding it as my “purse cup” but that’s a big maybe..I’m going to give it a couple more periods and decide after those for sure. For now I’ll be sticking to my favorite large Super Jennie cup.Lastly ladies, Those of us who are experienced know that being confident in using a cup takes time and practice. Not only with yourself, but also with your body, So don’t feel discouraged if you try it and it seems like it won’t work. Trust me when I say that every one of us has had those days...days when no matter what you try, your cup or body won’t cooperate. I have dropped my cup (due to nosily examining the contents, so fascinated by it) on a public restroom floor, creating basically a crime scene on everything, as well as dropping it into the toilet on more occasions than I can remember. So think abt all this when you get discouraged with it, and know your not alone.. also, These are just my opinions on the cup. And yeah, I am a very experienced cup user, but I still have some days I just can’t with the cups..so don’t give up because it doesn’t work one time..all cups are different as are each of our bodies, and one that works for one person could be a total disaster with someone else. Just don’t give up on it too soon. Love and blessings my sweets 😉

Forget Lunette and Lena, this is my Goldilocks!
I've been using a Lunette for about three years now, and I thought I loved it, but I recognized that there were some problems. It was often difficult to get open, and the texture of the silicone made it difficult to get high up enough without lubricant because there was some friction (but who has lubricant in every bathroom, they use?). The worst issue though, was that I constantly felt like I had to pee with it in, and I had difficulty peeing with it in at all, from the pressure on my urethra. I tried to replace it with a Lena cup a long while back, and hated that one even more (too firm, more urethra pressure, same texture so same placement issue but a soft bottom where the stem was so I couldn't even push it up far enough for it to feel comfortable). So I went back to my Lunette and gave up on finding a better cup because these things are not cheap to experiment with, until I found a few videos about this cup on YouTube. I was skeptical because it's Tampax and they're my least favorite brand of other menstrual products, but this seemed promising. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered it despite the price, and I'm so glad I did. I was on the last day of my period when it came, so I sanitized it and popped it in. Absolutely no opening or placement issues, and once it was in I forgot it was in. I think that will be my only issue with it... remembering to empty it because I've forgotten it's there! Tampax really got this one right.

Changed my period game forever!
This product has changed my life. I was so excited to see a menstrual cup from a brand that I already love and trust. I tried a Diva cup first because that was the only one available at the store, but the fit of this one was instantly SO MUCH BETTER! I cant even feel it.I am a paramedic and I am currently training to be a nurse. Bathroom breaks are not always garunteed and my periods are so incredibly heavy that I would have to wear a super plus tampon and a pad. I would almost always leak through the tampon in two hours on my heavy days. It was so stressful. I was constantly thinking about when I could go to a bathroom again. My period dominated my day. With this I dont have to worry about it. I changed it after 8 hours but not because it leaked. Infact it wasnt even half full. This product will let me go and live life confidently while I am on my period! Im so excited. Thank you Tampax!!Edit. They tell you to pick the cup based on flow, but I couldnt even get the bigger cup in. I am 25 and I have never had children or sex. So take that into consideration. The smaller one fits perfectly though!!

Leaked, uncomfortable, and awkward
This is my third cup, I also have a divacup and a mooncup. Those cups I fill up in 2 hours on my heavy days so I wanted a larger capacity cup. I purhased the heavy flow tampax cup. The stem was irritating so I trimmed it off, it’s still irritating. Its also a very large opening, so it was hard to get and I haven’t done so yet without spilling it on my hand. For me the cup leaked, it would not be full when I empty it out yet there’s plenty on my pad that I wear under it. I usually don‘t leak out of the other two cups unless they are full. It especially leaked if I laid down. I have not had kids. Maybe this cup will work better for me after that happens. The blue container is also hard to use. Its awkward to hold and feels like it will slip out of my hands. The closure mechanism is awkward and not intuitive.

#Ifeelit I'm not sure this cup is going to be a "Goldilocks" for the masses.
***The measurements entered in the photos are my own.****Update at the bottom.Overall, the silicone and finish on this cup are nice.Flash lines (seams) are barely detectable. No markings on the outside of the cup beside the five grip rings at the base and on the stems. The stems are solid and feel sturdy. They're flexible and have a slight stretch to them.Too bad the grip rings don't actually help as they flatten out when stretched, and there is nothing on the tip to keep your fingers from sliding off.The grip rings are rounded, but they are thin and I know some people will find them to be "scratchy".There are four medium/large air holes situated right on the bend of the flared rim. These travel downward with the higher point starting from the inside. The only marking on the inside of the cup is their registered brand name and a tiny '1' on both cups.Since I tried the large first, I'll start there:Large...I feel like their required slogan for influencers is "I don't feel it" or "I can't feel it", but I can definitely feel it!The rim has a very wide diameter compared to other cups on the market. It made it hard to fold small and it was bulky. Because the rim flares out, there was an "edge" to it that made it uncomfortable while inserting. The rim is also softer than the body of the cup. The body would open, but the rim stayed collapsed. I had to pull the cup back (out) a tad and then insert a finger to press the cup to my vaginal wall, creating a "pocket" or void that gave the cup space to expand. I'm glad that I let the cup open against my finger as when it did pop open, my finger shielded my cervix from getting hit.Except for the stem, which I didn't trim, the cup felt comfortable enough after it was inserted.I heard that they designed this cup to stay in place. I'm guessing that's why the rim is so wide. I think they got that down. Even the large size is shorter than most "average" large cups on the market and this cup didn't ride up and sit higher in my vaginal fornix.Removing it was bulky. I think if someone doesn't know to collapse the cup (fold it a bit) while removing it, people will experience pain hitting or brushing their urethra or find it uncomfortable passing back through their vaginal opening.Small...The small was a lot easier to insert. If I'll be suggesting this cup, it will be the small size for someone with a medium to a low cervix or someone with a tilted, tipped, retroflexed uterus that isn't turned off by the wide diameter. The wide diameter might help lessen "target practice" with their cervix. However, I did still have some issues with this cup at the start.Since I couldn't get the large cup to open for me, I used the same method when I tried the small. Pulled the cup back, press it to my vaginal wall....and then I released. What I forgot was that this cup is shorter. So when I released the fold, the rim was nearer to my vaginal opening. If my hand wasn't there to catch it, it would have shot out onto the floor :ORefold, re-insert, shield my cervix. It was A-OK this time.Again, comfortable while inserted save for the stem that I didn't trim. For those with a low to a very low cervix, these cups might still feel too long for you. Again, this cup didn't seem to migrate upward into my vaginal fornix, and since it doesn't have a rounded base, the tapered point might be irritating. For heavy flow periods - I feel that since these are very "V"-shaped and taper to a point quickly, if the cervix sits deep into the cup any fluid will be displaced nearer to the rim and compromise the capacity.I'm not sure this cup is going to be a "Goldilocks" for the masses.*****UpdateI mentioned that these cups stay put. Which could be a good or bad thing. For me, the cups stayed pretty low. I could feel the stem because I didn't trim them, but I could also feel the grip rings at the base of the cup. They're rigid and got more and more uncomfortable throughout the day/s. I was really not having it one day and removed it by lunchtime.
