Plush X-Wing fighter with "shoestring" laser cannons
Parent's Perspective Review (Collector's Perspective Review below)*This is a soft, plush, X-Wing toy. There are no hard parts so no worries about kids throwing it around the room to make it "fly". It will not clobber dad in the head or take a chunk out of the wall. It is also about six inches in length, so no real worries about it being a choking hazard.*Amazon asks for an "educational rating". This is a soft toy of a (admittedly cool) sci-fi space fighter jet, so the educational value is minimal.Collector's Perspective ReviewAs a fan favorite spaceship, the X-Wing, arrives in a soft, plush form. You might assume from the blue astromech droid dome in the socket that it is Luke Skywalder's X-Wing (aka Red 5), it unfortunately isn't. As you can see from the three red markings on either side of the wing, this is Red 3 and according to Wookiepedia, was flown by Luke's doomed Tatooine buddy, Biggs Darklighter.Pros+From most angles, the spaceship styling matches a squished, super-deformed, cutesy X-Wing. Because of this "squashed" look, the ship's cockpit panels, wings and laser tips are all vaguely screen accurate but fun, if you like that sort of thing.+The paint apps DO go all around the ship. Although on the underside, this is mostly on the wings and engines. Unfortunately, there are no landing gear or proton torpedo ports painted on the underside of the nose cone.Cons-The blue R2-D2ish astromech droid is just painted on. This is probably my largest complaint. The cockpit, engines and laser cannons are all "sculpted" onto this toy. I don't see why the R2-D2 droid head isn't a 3-D "dome" too. Astromechs serve an important purpose in space combat and in the Star Wars trilogy as a whole. I think they deserve more than just being a painted-on 2-D image.-This is probably the cleanest X-Wing I have ever seen. It has that fresh-off-the-factory floor look. Like all the vehicles in the original Star Wars movies, X-Wings were usually depicted on-screen with a lot of space dirt, grime and battle damage all over the fuselage. Understandably you wouldn't want to hand your child a "dirty" toy but I'm sure your kid can add their own grime and "battle damage" to this toy in record time.-The four laser cannons at the tip of each wing are made of a shoestring-type material so they are a bit droopy. Now, I can see why they did this: if these were rigid plastic, they would pose an eye-poking problem for your kid or easily snap off and pose a choking hazard. Still, I wonder if there was a more elegant solution than this.-Red 3? Honestly, Luke Skywalker is the hero kids love. This toy really should have been Luke Skywalkder's Red 5. Would it have killed them to paint in the extra red stripes? No R2 dome and Red 3 markings... Sheesh, the manfuacturer seems to be in full cost-cutting mode.Overall, this is a fun, child's toy. Obviously, when compared to plastic model or Hasbro toys, this plushie toy is going to lose in the detail department but it WILL also survive a lot more impacts when thrown around the room or when its nose cone get plunged into your child's gaping, saliva-filled mouth for a chewing session. Your Hasbro X-Wing probably also wouldn't survive a trip in the washing machine. Until your kid is ready to handle a more expensive (and less durable) Star Wars toy this little plush starfighter will do fine.

Great little X-wing
I got this along with the Death Star and the Millennium Falcon. This one is by far the best of the three. The Falcon was just not very well done, a bad representation of it, other than the actual outline shape. The death star was well done, but let's face it, it's just a sphere. This one has all the "features" you need for a good representation of an X-wing. The only downside is that R2 doesn't protrude up at all it's just a color graphic of the top of him flat on the top rear of the fighter. It's soft and well made, no stitching problems at all. the construction is top notch and I have no worries of this having a seam come undone or something.Everything on it is soft and bendable, so no worries for little ones.If you have a young star wars fan, or just want it for yourself, it's a great deal for a great little plush.

perfect gift for my son
My son loves Star Wars. And he often sleeps with his favorite books or hard plastic toys. Saw this online and tried to see if it was available on Amazon - unlike the hard plastic toys this is plush and soft and won't leave indentations on my son's cheek in the morning (haha). Also got him the Tie Fighter so he can have mock space battles. I thought it was decent and the price was right.

It's a plush X-Wing!
It's a plush X-Wing! I think that bears repeating. It's a plush X-Wing! What more do you need to know? It's cute, my daughter and I have fun with it, and its construction is pretty tough. Purists may be offended by the nylon string laser emiters, but I have always wanted one of these for my daughter, (for myself, let's be honest) and I was delighted to finally find one. Get an AT-AT too, for ground assault missions! (Actually, the AT-AT is more mediocre, but still fun)

Great toy for the youngling in your life!
Super-cute! I bought this and the matching TIE fighter for my 6-month old niece, and she loved it! It wasn't obvious in the photo, but the laser cannons are just soft strings, which combined with the high contrast coloring and general cuddliness makes for a great kid's (or adult's) toy. Additionally, the toy seems to be decently put together, so it should last awhile.

Excellent for little baby boy/girl
Bought the whole collection form my little baby boy. When he is in his crib I recreate famous battle scenes with sound effects and everything. He loves it! Product is pretty soft and with no hard edges. The only downside is that they are a little smaller than I thought they'd be. It is never to soon to introduce Star Wars to your kids!!!

Can't beat the price
Very cute. Pay attention to the size...these are not large plushes. Still, a great collection. When you've got a boy in the family who tends to...ahem...throw, toss, crash and bash things, soft toys are the way to go. Can't beat the price.

I bought this toy for my husband
My husband is a Star Wars geek so when I found this on Amazon I had to get it for him. It is very cute and makes a nice desk decoration, however, my husband says the design is not completely accurate, say as Lego Star Wars designs are. But hey, it's a plushy! It made him smile.
