Replacement carburetor for Ryobi 790r
Purchased this carburetor to replace the OEM unit. First you must take pictures of the fuel tube routing before you remove the old tubing and components. I didn't and reconnected the new tubing wrong. Luckily I could refer to my brothers rebuilt 790r to get the tubing right. I had to remove the OEM cable clamp from the OEM carburetor and install it on the new unit. Can be done but small parts needs patients and deft hands to re-install and the small circlip is easy to lose. The included fuel filter will not sit back in the hole in the tank like the OEM unit so I needed to use the black tubing to fit the hole in the tank snuggly and sealant on the outside around the tube to keep the fuel from leaking out. The carburetor fit and installed well. The primer worked correctly after I correctly fit the fuel tubing in. I replaced the existing spark plug with the new one from the kit after checking the gap. I put fresh gas with 32:1 oil mix into the tank. The trouble with this carburetor is the engine would start but wouldn't run with the choke fully open. The engine would only run on half choke and wouldn't idle. I purchased the Motall brand carburetor from Amazon which has two sets of replacement fuel tubing, filters, primer bulbs, and a needle valve adjustment tool included. It works and the 790 r new runs correctly.

Worked the first time
Good quality to the OEM carburetor. Plenty of length of fuel lines, since mine were leaking, I had to replace. The only thing was a bit difficult was the new filter installations the tank. I tried safety wire, put it through the opening, and slid the filter down to find its hole, worked out in 1 minute. Install filter inside the tank, put the o-ring outside the tank onto filter stem, then attached the ferrule to the black house and attached the hose to the filter stem. you may have to support the filter from inside the tank with a screwdriver, while you are pushing on the black hose. Then slide the metal ferrule onto filter to tighten the connection, other side of black tubing goes to carburetor fuel supply. I used the yellow hose for the bulb pump.

This is a home run!
I thought is was time to hold a funeral for my 1998 Ryobi 700r string trimmer but decided to purchase this kit and give it a shot. After watching a few YouTube videos on disassembling and reassembling my trimmer, I removed the old parts, installed these and she is running fantastic! Maybe I'll get another 20 years out of it!My main issue was in the old carburetor. These small carburetors use a diaphragm to perform the function that the float does in a "regular" carburetor so the fuel supply is not interrupted when the unit is not "flat". The design allows the sting trimmer to be tilted in various ways without losing the fuel supply as would happen with float. I believe the diaphragm had developed a hole that prevented it from delivering enough fuel. This was most likely caused by the many years of using fuel that now contains ethanol which destroys these types of rubber components over time.If you this kit fits your device, I highly recommend you get one!

Mostly fits Ryobi 725r, but not perfect.
I like all the extras that came with this kit - especially the fuel line. My Ryobi seems to need to have fuel lines redone about every 3 or 4 years. The carb almost fit perfectly. Everything except the idle adjust screw is slightly covered up by the original choke plate. The fuel filter that goes in the tank didn't fit at all and didn't even look like the original. Couldn't get a screwdriver on top of it to push it into the tank hole. It sits a good 3/8" higher than the original with an extra metal bushing that goes on bottom. That's it. I have it installed and its working - just not a direct replacement for the original YAMA carb.

Great item and value for the money
After taking my 20+ year old Ryobi weed walker out of storage, I knew that I would have carb issues to deal with in order to get it back running. Despite giving the carb a good cleaning, it just would not work properly so I opted to replace it with this unit. Install is easy however the new carb should have included the throttle cable holder...that was a bit of a PITA to transfer from the old carb to the new one. Started right up on the first pull...however note that you will need to adjust the idle screw. Ryobi has a special tool to adjust the screws but if you don’t have one of these just like I didn’t, you can just cut a notch/slot across the top of both screws and use a flat head screwdriver to make the adjustments. Bottom line, great item and value for the money. All that remains to be seen is the quality and durability of the carb.
