Single Hue Cover for V2 Dimmer

Absolutely brilliant product and as many have expressed, it is a wonder Philips don’t offer this or a similar product themselves. I bought this to go over my living room light switch because I was getting annoyed of people turn off the light from the light switch. Once you switch off the light using the switch you lose the smart controls. I didn’t fancy sticking the Philips remote light switch on my wall next to the main light switch so this adapter has been a much welcome solution. I can confirm this adapter is a perfect fit for the standard uk light switch so much so I have simply just placed it over my light switch without even using the screws. However to ensure the adapter is secure and doesn’t fall off I do recommend using the screws. The adapter has got good build quality, it feels strong, sturdy, durable and should hold in place. Once installed it will add some thickness and bulk to your light switch fixture but this is understandable because of its design and function, its placed over an existing fixture so it can’t really be any thinner. The good thing about this adapter is that it is very easy to install, and best of all once install you still have easy access to your main light switch by simply unclipping the Philips hue remote/mount. The adapter is a very good product that provides a much needed solution and I believe it’s well worth the money, I plan to buy more for other rooms. Hope this helps

A switch cover is normally a very necessary purchase if you use a Hue Dimmer Switch. Without it, I found that someone always keeps accidentally turning off the light with the wall switch - including myself! The SM200 cover has a quality feel, is well designed and complements the Hue Dimmer Switch. I found the SM200 easy to fit. All my wall switches are old-style standard white plastic. You fit the cover over the wall switch (new longer screws are supplied) - I found it was a perfect fit for my switches. Then you simply clip the Dimmer Switch surround onto the cover. But first you have to prise out the original mounting insert from the rear of the surround using a screwdriver as a lever - there is an opening at the bottom to insert the screwdriver. I prised very cautiously at first but the plastic is strong so it's easier than it looks. The SM200 is supposed to be compatible with most wall switches. You can also get Samotech double light switch covers that hold two Dimmer Switches. Incidentally, I wasn't sure if the same Hue light can be controlled by two separate Dimmer Switches, but I have found that it can. This is useful on stairs, long hallways, etc.

Absolutely ideal product, surprised that Philips haven't included something similar in their range or with the dimmer switch. Works a treat and fits perfectly over standard switches, just be aware that the screws supplied with it won't work for you if you've got longer electrical screws than standard in the fixing you plan to cover over (in the case of insulated plasterboard wall slabs for example). This cover adds about 15-20mm to the depth your screws will need to travel before they grab your wallbox, so be prepared in advance and order longer screws, or (like me) you'll have to wait a little longer to get your funky little hue dimmer switch on the wall. Minor oversight, and not a flaw with the product as such, but the manufacturer should add a disclosure to advise people of the extra depth required and that they may need to buy longer screws.

I like this product. It stops anyone switching off the Hue light at the switch, meaning you can always still control it from the app or remote. I like that this allows use of part of the Hue-supplied switch mount, which makes it a good fit, and reliable magnetic connection. A similar product I've used is not as good at holding the remote, but does have the advantage of allowing access to the switch easily if needed. It's more difficult with this one. Frankly, I still prefer this one, as it's not like you need to use the switch behind, and you're not going to be replacing the bulbs too frequently either with 20,000 hours typical life span. Overall, it's a great product - simple and effective. Also very simple installation. They even supply a small screwdriver! (honestly, there's no need!)

Imagine my absolute delight at finding the face plate is compatible with the other Samotech wall-mounted hardware for Hue. I can now replace the 14 Hue Smart Buttons, with their terrible battery life, without having to refit 14 wall switches. Just slide out the old plate and replace with the new plate. What a great design and a bit of a no-brainer for Samotech as it avoids needing to retool things. The only downside is that the two-gang face plate is a little too big for the wall-mounted hardware, which they’ve tried to hide by adding a curve to the face-plate, but it isn’t quite perfect.

Does as descibed and covers an existing switch while still giving access to it if required. But because of that it is huge. It comes out 2.2cm from the wall and then the remote adds a few more mm to that. The curved shape reduces the impact a bit but it's still pretty big compared to a normal switch. Fitting involves either sticking it to the wall or removing the screws from the existing switch and replacing them with the longer ones supplied that go through the cover and the existing switch. I've got wallpaper so went with the screws, this left space between the cover and the switch meaning the switch was no longer pushed against the wall leaving a gap behind it. Would have liked to have had some packing material included to keep the switch pushed against the wall. If I didn't already have a Hue remote I'd probably just buy a Hue compatible wall switch instead.

Le dejo 5 estrellas consciente de que este producto está pensado para enchufes de Reino Unido y no de España, donde lo he instalado, ya que si se anunciara como compatible para España le bajaría la nota, ya que no tiene manual en español o específico para mecanismos españoles y los tornillos no son los más adecuados. Punto extra porque incluye un pequeño destornillador para no necesitar otra herramienta (aunque es más cómodo usar uno más grande, yo he utilizado uno eléctrico). Se adapta perfectamente a cualquier caja de mecanismos encastrada estándar española, aunque a los tornillos (incluidos) les cuesta un poco entrar, además parece que la distancia no es exacta al milímetro, pero aún así cuando terminas de enroscar, encaja bien. Por último, los tornillos no son de punta, más fáciles de atornillar en las cajas, sobre todo si hay restos de yeso o pintura (algo muy habitual). Yo tuve que meter un tornillo de punta primero para "abrir paso". Para instalarlo (ya que las instrucciones incluidas son para interruptores británicos): 1. Desmonta el embellecedor de tu mecanismo actual, no es necesario desmontar el interruptor en sí. Normalmente va a presión, aunque algunos pueden llevar algún tornillito oculto. 2. Observa cómo está atornillada la parte metálica del mecanismo a la caja que hay incrustada en la pared. Normalmente se puede hacer mediante un tornillo en el centro de cada lateral y hay puestos 2 y otros 2 libres. Si vas a poner el interruptor de hue en vertical, no debe haber tornillos a izquierda o derecha y por tanto la parte metálica debe ir atornillada arriba y abajo. 3. Atornilla el plástico con los tornillos incluidos en los agujeros que incluye la caja de plástico que hay incrustada en la pared. 4. Separa la tapa trasera del soporte del interruptor hue (sí! Se separa!). 5. Encaja, a presión, el soporte en el plástico que has atornillado a la caja. Os pongo unas fotos para que veáis cómo va instalado. Hecho!

Il est moins épais comparé à la version précédente (pour le Switch v1). Les trous s'alignent parfaitement avec la boite mural (Schneider), mais j'ai du enlever la partie plastique blanche de l'interrupteur car il touche les supports des vis (voir photos). L'epaisseur du couverture est tout juste, mais les vis fournis ne sont correctes (j'ai du utiliser les vis originales de la boite Schneider) par contre les rondelles inclus sont fundamental pour pouvoir serrer les vis sans trop forcer et plier les supports des vis. Le resultat est plutot bon. J'enlève une étoile pour les vis incluses que sont bonnes peut-etre pour les anglaises mais pas pour nous.

Qua design niet de mooiste maar een ideale oplossing voor het ophangen van de afstandsbediening van Philips Hue.

Riktigt smart och smidig sak. Aldrig haft problem med denna och passar perfekt till Philips Hue trådlösa dosa. Bygger inte onödigt mycket och även om luckan kanske är lite trög är det bara bra och hellre det än att den åker ner för lätt.
