Rivette is the lest known director of the nouvelle vague but the most achieved from a cinematographic point of view. His language is overly cerebral but, perhaps, he lacks the passion and eloquence of a Truffaut or Goddart. Still, a priceless art piece, as most of his work, mostly to long to be commercially sustainable

1976 (not 2016) "experimental adventure fantasy drama". Basic plot: woman seeks vengeance by getting a job as bodyguard to the pirate leader who killed her brother. Somewhat bizarre pirate melodrama, written and directed by men with a mostly all female cast. Requires viewer to suspend belief given the implausibility of the narrative. No film sex. Some stabbing and death, akin to a Shakespeare play.
