A true insight into the workings of intelligence agencies in both East and West
An excellent read! There will no doubt be some people who believe anything the "spymaster" of the East German Counterintelligence says cannot hold a grain of truth, but if you're a critically minded person I believe you'll be quite surprised. This is a tremendous autobiography about an incredibly interesting individual who holds no qualms about admitting to the flaws his country fell victim to, but also stands by his convictions as someone who was defending his country. It is essential to remember there are always two sides to every story, and it was particularly interesting to understand the reasoning the DDR and the people defending it came to in order to protect their way of life.Anything concerning the East German security services in today's world is plagued by too much political sensationalism, when in reality, they all operate within very similar boundaries.Bought second-hand, excellent condition. Great buy

A most informative book
It is a most informative book, sober in its account. The style is rather dry, the memoirs are rather self serving, but the mass of information is most interesting.
