You don't have to spend $200 for smooth, well designed spinning reel. The Nasci, which replaced the Symetre, is a great reel at about $100. Buy two.

This is one of the smoothest nicest reels I've owned and casted. Love this thing

I’m a big fan of shimano products however this reel is terrible. I’ve had 2 of this same reel (first one I retruned) and they both have the same defect. randomly the bail will flip to closed while I’m casting. never had any reel I’ve used in my life do that and it’s happened to both nasci reels I’ve had so far. I own several other shimano reels and none do that. garbage reel, don’t buy. I’ve lost countless lures because of this reel just from simply casting.

Always was shimano reel diehard until now!! Last 2 I bought let me down, had this reel 1 1/2 year started binding when reeling in, no hard use I baby my fishing equipment, Iam done with shimano

I was so excited to finally put out $100 to buy a new Shimano reel. Nice and smooth, looks great……however, first time on the pond with small swim bait, no pressure or fish caught yet and a loud clunk sounded from the reel with every rotation. Sadly, returning for a refund. With all the reels I own, all far less expensive than this one and NEVER had any issues with them. I am gun shy about ordering another Shimano as what are the chances that I would get one of very few defective units out of millions they sell? Sounds like production or QA issues with Shimano.

By far the best bang for your buck from Shimano. I own 6 of these reels ( the oldest being 6 years old) and I have never had a bit of trouble out of them. I fish inshore and rinse them off after every use and lube them twice a year and they are as smooth as the day I bought them.

Great reel with seamless movement.

Initial reactions were amazing, since i am pretty picky about reels and the sounds that reels make i tend to dislike a lot of reels, but this one is great quality, its quiet and smooth and has click drag and has a screw in handle that gets pretty tight and stays tight. I Haven’t tested it out on the water yet but i will be pairing it with a 7 foot medium moderate fast rod for bass and pike. Will update after use. I am satisfied.
